My wife and I tried out this place on Main Street in Mandan last night. The food was okay, didn’t stand out as anything different than Dickies or Famous Dave’s. The portions were acceptable and a little on the higher side for pricing. The foil layer below our food wasn’t the best for eating potato salad or beans. Understand the concept of keeping the food warm. The service was exceptional and being as it is a one man show our order was timely and very talkative (friendly). The atmosphere was warm with seating to stay and eat. Didn’t get the vibe that a lot of people would stay and eat as the food is served in a to-go box. Didn’t see a trashcan inside so we threw our trash in a bin outside after exiting. Restrooms are available onsite. We ended up parking on 1st Street one block north as it is hard to find street parking with the Mexican restaurant on the same block and at the time the Holiday Lights across the street.

Best BBQ I’ve had in the state. Very friendly owner. We got a plate of four ribs, corn, and green beans, that was enough for the two of us. If you’re a big eater then you’d probably want one plate per person. Would go again.

Incredible food! We came right after opening, and the owner was very nice and gave us great portions. I had the brisket, and it was so tender and delicious. The potato salad was also wonderful. I will be coming back!

Best ribs I have ever had. I also had the baked beans and potato salad. I can’t recomend this place enough. Crazy clean and the owner was nice. Truly worth the visit.

Wow wow wow, first off I didn’t even know there was a soul food spot here and I saw it on google, I kind of already came in with high expectations but as soon as I ate it did not disappoint the food was so good exactly what I wanted and exactly what Bismarck/Mandan needs please stay open!!! If you haven’t been, you gotta go here! Nothing else has graced the Bismarck/Mandan area with THIS level of world class BBQ until now. This is the authentic stuff you normally have to travel south to experience. Go get a plate from the friendliest and most passionate owner in the area. The next time you’re hungry for a real meal, this should be top of your list. Absolutely incredible flavors and service. We’ll be back soon!
