I order from this potbelly a lot because I work near by. I was highly upset when I made an online order tonight and my sandwich was burnt , very hard to bite in and have NO SAUCE on the sandwich. I’m very disappointed. No everyone should be hired to work at a restaurant if they cannot make the food as it’s presented on the website. It looks like they just slapped the sandwich together.

Edit: After reading all the other reviews of the exact same problem, it’s clear that this company does not have the capacity to turn things around at this location. I recommend shutting it down.

Food is always good, but incredibly long wait times and employees loafing around doing nothing completely ruins the reputation of a great chain. Slow service during lunch hour is inexcusable- that’s prime time and you’re overstaffed. Someone take over at this sandwich shop, they’ve lost the plot.

(Jan 14, 2026) A short guy in the back yelled and screamed at a customer and threatened to call police on her due to a question about her order. He screamed at her a few times. There were 20+ customers in the waiting area who witnessed it, and trying to their mobile orders as well. The level of professionalism is unreal here. I recommend shutting this location down. They’re not customer-friendly and don’t need anyone’s money.

The Italian in wheat/whole grain with everything in it (but tomatoes), is truly delicious. Just the right amount of peppers and toasted to perfection. The jalapeno chips feel like they’re getting lighter and lighter in quantity, but still good. The restroom is clean, there’s soap, and paper towels. There’s usually a lot of foot traffic and it can be pretty busy, so if the tables are not wiped down or the floor is a bit messy, there’s only 3 people here meeting your hunger needs! I love the ambiance and the wallpaper. See if you can find where we sat!

Plenty of parking on a Saturday afternoon and a couple of minutes walking distance from the metro and other Old Town shops and restaurants. This is located across the John Carlisle square and there’s outdoor seating in front of the entrance to Potbelly.

Placed a to-go order that was ready when promised. Ordered one of their promo Lucky 7s – a sandwich featuring their 7 deli meats – and needless to say I think they only put on one slice of 3 meats, and skipped about half of the ordered toppings. The end result was pretty bad for the premium price they charge for one of their deluxe offerings. I’ve ordered the 7 at other Potbelly locations and it’s usually a great sandwich. Whoever made my sandwich that day either didn’t care or wasn’t trained properly.

First time in the DC area. Potbelly was right around the corner from my hotel, after a long flight I ordered delivery from one of my favorite sandwich places Potbelly. My food arrived burnt and old bread. I immediately called but since it was closing in 10 mins and I was leaving to go home the next morning, the manager assured me of my refund, which I have not received. I will continue to frequent Potbelly but definitely not this location. I have several trips planned to DC for business. So disappointed

Great service from the morning crew who prepared my catering order. Picked up the chilli and Mac and cheese soup yesterday. Chilli was great but the Mac and cheese soup was meh.

This store literally doesn’t want your money.

You can have your sandwich in hand, in a line 10+ deep waiting to pay and they won’t operate the cash register. Why you might ask?

Well, there’s online orders. Online orders all that matter. It’s quite literally all the staff cares about and must be a metric tied to their compensation.

So why won’t I online order? Well, the whole point of a toasted sandwich is that its crispy, but when your sandwich is ordered online, they have them sitting around and the toppings tend to make that toasty sandwich soggy. Why should I spend the money only to get a soggy sandwich?

I used to go 3x a week, now I’m done.

This is the most problematic Potbelly I’ve ever been to. I’ve been coming here for a year now and i just have to leave an overall review. It is hit or miss. One minute staff is arguing then the next it’s all good. Prepare to hear snide comments when the workers aren’t in the mood and it’s always nice to see a side of sagging pants around your sandwich like I had today. They make working at a sandwich shop seem like rocket science. I was starving today and literally got the saddest and burnt BLTA. I probably won’t be back . It’s too unpredictable

I have visited this location multiple times, and they are consistently behind schedule. I am aware of this pattern, so I typically arrive a little later than my scheduled pickup time. However, on this occasion, I waited for 30 minutes for a 1:00 p.m. order that I had pre-ordered. When I approached the staff to inform them, they were dismissive. I am very disappointed.
