Ordered takeout tonight, and unfortunately my order was incorrect, which was especially disappointing since this was my first impression of the restaurant. I ordered the Dragon Roll with spicy mayo (for an extra charge), the Hangover Roll, and the Spicy Roll Combo.($64)
The spicy roll combo was correct, but that was the only item.
The Dragon Roll did not include the spicy mayo and instead of the Hangover Roll, I received a different roll that appeared to be the possibly the Mexican Roll as it had cilantro in it.
The sushi itself was good, but it wasn’t what I ordered. Paying a higher price and not receiving the correct items made for a frustrating first experience. I hope they can improve order accuracy moving forward.

The interior of the building was extremely beautiful! So really don’t judge a book by its cover! The food of course was great. I mean where else would you get a good Japanese Cuisine is these parts? I was there for a birthday party for a good friend of mine and would recommend anyone that wants their birthday in a restaurant to go there. They have a few special things for birthdays I suppose the only issue is that the food arrived very slowly, but that’s because it just opened and are still just testing the waters. But other the than food coming out super slow, for the time being until they find a good system, there is no big issue.

Came here with my husband and daughter. We were really impressed by the clean and upscale atmosphere. Our daughter was given a pair of children chopsticks which was really sweet. We ordered a sushi and sashimi for 2 people which gave us plenty to take home for $60. The sashimi was great quality and fresh. We also ordered fried ice cream for dessert. Really looking forward to them getting their liquor license. Their cocktail selection looks great. My only comment would be to add a child’s menu with smaller child sized portions. Maybe options like chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura bento, and miso soup with udon. Really great restaurant and we highly recommend you give it a try.

As someone who grew up in Newport but no longer resides here I must say I am so happy for this new addition to the community. Enjoyed dinner here with some friends my first night back in town while visiting and everything was delicious! Sushi was fresh and flavorful and my margarita was just what I needed. Service was 10/10. Would love see this place stay and succeed! Highly recommend please keep this new business going!!

My husband and I went here to celebrate his birthday, everything was wonderful and the food was so beautiful and delicious! The atmosphere is clean, pretty, and cozy. They have very friendly and considerate staff. The food tasted fresh and you can tell love and care went into making it. Thank you very much! We will definitely be coming back again.

The food was delicious and fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. The drinks were great too the bartender, who is also the manager, was super nice. I’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing. The renovation is beautiful and the space feels fresh and thoughtfully done. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive — everyone made us feel genuinely welcome.
Accessibility note: Hibachi is on the second floor, so there’s no wheelchair access. There are also a few steps at the entrance but there does appear to be a ramp on the side. I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user and was having a good day, so I was able to manage — but it’s definitely something to be aware of.
We went for hibachi and I also ordered a sweet potato roll — and after the first bite I realized I haven’t had one that good in years. The hibachi was phenomenal. The chef was lively, fun, and cooked everything perfectly. Even if you’ve been to hibachi a bunch of times, they seem to have a few new tricks that make it extra entertaining.
With hibachi, you get the standard salad with ginger dressing (which was great!), but no soup — just something to note if you’re used to getting both.
And this might sound like a silly detail, but I have to say it — the paper napkins were amazing. I only needed one. It was so refreshing not to have a napkin fall apart after wiping your hands once.
Parking is limited, but we went at a great time and had no trouble finding a spot.
We’ll definitely be back!

Being from NJ, finding great food that we were exposed to has been a trial.
Sakana had made us feel at home.
