The Joy Luck- East End was somewhat of a disappointment. The service was just so-so, and the food was just that too, so-so. The pours of wine were nothing to write home about either.

We started out with steamed pork dumplings. They were okay, but several arrived cold. My wife ordered the Mushu which showed up with garlic, a brown sauce, egg, mushrooms, cabbage, bamboo, sliced carrots, and two types of onions, white/green. An order of brown rice accompanied the Mushu. She liked it and even asked for a to-go box. Doing that is a plus in our family for a restaurant.

I ordered the Bourbon Chicken with a side of Lo Mein. The chicken was accompanied by an almost honeymoon salad, lettuce alone. There were very small strips of carrots, but a tasty ginger dressing. There was, as you can see by the photo, just little more than a cup of chicken. The Bourbon sauce was good, but the chicken was chewy.

We will most likely not be dining here again. What really topped off our dining experience was when we were presented with the check on their handheld POS device offering tip suggestions starting at 20% and going up from there. Tipping is getting out of hand everywhere nowadays. I selected “custom” and left a 15% tip which was more than adequate for the service/food we received. If you choose to dine here, I hope your experience is better than what ours was.

Wonderful dining experience! Our food was delicious. We both had autumnal cocktails that were fabulous. I had the campfire old fashioned- smoky and delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp pad Thai and my daughter had the sesame tofu. Can’t say enough about the service! Our server was impeccable. Wonderful suggestions and the food arrived quickly. Will definitely return.

The restaurant was not as clean as I would expect. The service was good but the food was average. I had ordered a lamb dish and had quite a bit of gristle. There was a bit too much cumin and the veggies were overcooked. It seems the quality and aesthetics has deteriorated in the past couple of years.

Looking for something new to try while we were in the area and stumbled upon The Joy Luck.

The resturant was decorated nicely and had a good vibe.
The door greater and server was wonderful all our questions was answered.

We ordered appitizers and our meal. Our apps can out quick and had plenty of flavor but the app sizes was for maybe 2 people if they weren’t hungry when they arrived.

When the main lunch came the serving was plenty and the taste was great except the szechuan chicken was good but lacked flavor. It was lite on the garlic and jalapeños but just enough oil to make the meal.

My Review point:
I would eat here again but I would pass on the appitizers and the szechuan chicken.

Pros:
*Egg drop soup $5 and a vegetable spring roll $2.50 were very good.
*My friend enjoyed her cashew shrimp dish.
*Employees were courteous

Cons:
*No menus, only QR code with no customer wifi. You must scroll, pinch and zoom your way through 4 different sections to see what is available.
*Restaurant is located in a strip mall and was very chilly bring a jacket.

Came here for the first time based on previous reviews and it did not disappoint. We had the spicy wontons as an appetizer and they were amazing. We came when there was hardly anyone here and received great service. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. A good place to meet with friends and family. Will definitely be coming back!!

Ordered through Grub Hub – got two ramen bowls and while the flavor was good (I ordered middle spice) l, the mushrooms and bok choy were hard and chewy – weirdest thing, there was literally NO broth that came with it. I texted the driver asking if there was another bag with the two broths but didn’t hear back so reached out to Joy Luck on Facebook. They couldn’t tell me if it came with broth or not – so that didn’t help. I ended up heating up some chicken broth to add to not. Pad Thai as ok – not very tasty but not bad.

The pork soup dumplings were absolutely fantastic but a bit underwhelmed by the Mongolian Beef and Honey Walnut Shrimp. For the price, it could be much better. Will go back but will likely just do some appetizers.

It is a nice looking restaurant. Seems very hip/modern look. Very clean. Friendly staff. Easy and plentiful parking.

If you like sesame chicken and don’t like the stringing chicken some people serve, try it here. It is amazing sauced and the chicken is large chicken nugget sized.

I’m not a major food critic but I don’t recommend the yellow curry or crab rangoon if you’ve tried places. My rangoon wasn’t very light notr crispy and my curry had uncooked peppers (sad for me when the 2 carrot pieces were cooked).

Arrived at 8 PM (Happy Hour) and ordered steamed dumplings and crab rangoon as appetizers. Both were delicious. I ordered their lobster and assorted seafood at market price as my entree but it wasn’t available so I opted for the bourbon chicken with lo mein. We finished with the chocolate lava with raspberry sauce. Excellent service and food. I have included a picture of my bourbon chicken. Would have given 5 stars if my first choice was available.
