The most perfect Indian Bengali restaurant in the US. If you are craving the authentic taste of Kolkata style Bengali food, this is the place.

The fish fry will remind you of the streets of Kolkata with the most authentic taste of the green marination. It is also served with Kasundi, the fermented mustard sauce. The Kochuri, alur dom, egg chicken roll, and Moghlai Porota were perfect. Exactly like home. The Gurer Sondesh was such a flavorful makha sondesh. But the showstopper was the Mishti Doi. I never had such good mishti doi in the US before. A perfect end to a perfect Bengali lunch. Will visit here again very soon.

There is hardly any restaurant like Talab, where it feels more like home than a restaurant. The way they customize the food and serve it with such warmth is something I haven’t experienced anywhere else. Every time, along with the delicious food, the homely conversations and friendly chats with Suparna make the time pass so beautifully. The food quality is excellent, which is probably why it’s a little expensive, and the taste is truly unique. Their customer service is outstanding—something I haven’t found anywhere else. Please try their whole roasted chicken — it’s highly recommended.

I ordered the fruitcake from Talab and it instantly reminded me of the traditional Kolkata Christmas cake I grew up with. The rich, moist texture, generous dry fruits, and perfectly balanced sweetness make it incredibly authentic. The warm spice notes and deep flavor feel just like the classic bakery cakes from Kolkata during Christmas. Absolutely delicious and nostalgic—highly recommended for anyone who loves a true, old-school Christmas fruitcake.

Found this new Bengali restaurant in town, had to try it out with our bong group. Overall the ambience was nice, manager was welcoming , food were mostly great , prices are little higher than other places I guess, with some scopes of further improvements in service . Overall a good place to enjoy authentic Bengali food , definitely recommend

We ordered :
1. Kolkata fish cutlet crispy thin crust, tasty inner filling with tilapia, not vetki though
2. Lasooni chicken Kebab soft and jucy
3. Korai shootir Kochuri and Aloor dum –
Kochuris were OKAY type , little thicker, should have been more fluffy and crisp , and the oil smelled off to me
Aloor Dum was tasty l
4. Mughlai Parota with Chicken Keema, and aloor tarkari (was extra tangy due to excess use of tomato)
5. Mutton Dak Bunglow (ordered Jira rice separately, doesn’t come with the curry)
6. Misti Doi , Rasogolla , Gurer sondeh

Pomfret Fry was unavailable

Drinks: Mango lassi, Masala Chai both were nice .
(actually Wanted to try Irani chay and Masala Chhach , both were unavailable)

Few hiccups in service that can be improved :
1. Our orders came in confusing order, and successive orders came in too fast. Like we were not yet done with appetizers but the Main course was on table. we were not done with Main course and desserts were served. One of the appetizers came after main course.
So I think the staffs need to coordinate more appropriately and ask the visitors if they are ready for the next food
2. The menu card should explicitly mention how many pieces are there in each entry , to avoid confusion. Or add reference pictures true to its size
3. For all the starters the side sauces ( like Kasundi, green chutney) given were inadequate for the food proportions, we had to ask for multiple refills

Went to Talab for Bengali food with a group of friends – had a wonderful meal of jackfruit cutlet, fish fry, egg devil, mughlai paratha with and without keema – really loved it and it was so soo good. For main food, we ordered daal Makhani, butter chicken and Mutton dak bungalow – with rice and naan. We ended the meal with sandesh, rosogolla and Mishti doi. The ambience is uplifting, the food is presented well and delicious. The owner spoke with us and shared her vision/ passion for the restaurant. She can make authentic Bengali food like aloo poshto, mochar ghonto etc if asked in advance as it’s not on the menu. I am excited that I can take my friends to eat authentic Bengali cuisine when they are interested.

We had an amazing dining experience at Talab. Suparna, the chef’s passion for food and the restaurant shows in every item. She has a wonderful vision for the place and offers select dishes, each one better than the other.

We dropped in as a of 6 friends and thoroughly enjoyed the jackfruit cutlets, fish fry, egg devil and mughlai paratha. Also stellar was the mutton dak bungalow and the mishti doi and rosogolla. Suparna also caters for parties and takes advance orders for special items.

There is a dearth of good Bengali restaurants in the area and Talab comes as a breath of fresh air.

Keep an eye out for it’s cafe menu as well and enjoy cha and ta (snacks)!

Highly recommended!

Golgappas are nice, the girl who serves em is really sweet. But overall, food Quantity is less + fails to deliver the taste as well. We ordered mughlai paratha + keema, the wrap was raw, see pictures! The Dakbanglow mutton was utterly underwhelming :/ I was not expecting overcooked mutton. The food is definitely overpriced and not authentic at all. Service is a little slow sometimes.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Talab restaurant and I must say, it was an amazing experience! The highlight of my meal was definitely the butter chicken – it was simply delicious and tasted so authentic. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I couldn’t help but go for seconds!

Aside from the food, what really stood out to me was how friendly and welcoming the owner was. She went out of her way to make sure our dining experience was top-notch and even recommended some other dishes for us to try. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great.

Overall, I would highly recommend Talab restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine. The butter chicken alone is worth the visit, and the owner’s hospitality will make you feel right at home.

Small place but a very good ambience. A nice Indian restaurant for a date.

Food tasted authentic with the perfect North Indian flavors. The mustard oil aromas! Can definitely say this place is very authentic Bengali food.

Very small portions for the price : HEAVILY OVERPRICED
25 bucks for a small amount of gravy and also does not come with rice or bread.
One tiny order of Naan for 5 bucks.
Coriander chicken gravy – wouldn’t call that special personally. Tasted like chutney. Does nor go well with rice. Was okay with Naan.
Mutton Dakbungalow – taste was extraordinary but doesn’t justify the price.
Naan – a tiny piece for 5 bucks and it was too mediocre.
The Kolkata fish fry and Chapli kebab tasted amazing. No complaints throughout.

An upscale date spot but wouldn’t recommend for a regular lunch or dinner. Unless you are craving you are Bengali and craving authentic food

Very good ambience. The food was ok. They have many authentic Bengali dishes. I mean that’s what they claim. The menu has many options for Bengali dishes and we ordered few of them. By the first look of the food it looks delicious. But the taste was not as good as it looks. Overall this place has more food choices over weekend. Specially if you are looking to have good authentic Bengali food try this place on any weekend.
