Came here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday with her friends and left very unimpressed. The appetizers took about 45 minutes and we only ordered fried calamari and wings. The entrees then took another 35ish minutes more. We had to flag the staff several times just to ask for water. The food was good but the lack of service made us feel unwelcome.

Dee and Mike are always happy to see you, they provide a great welcoming atmosphere and most importantly is that the quality of the food they provide is second to none, Dee is always changing up the specials and soups to fit the season. If you don’t see it as a special, ask for “Chicken Shongotzzz” you wont be sorry! Santos completes the wonderful experience by going above and beyond to make the customers feel like family. Carmela’s pizza is top tier quality even compared to very good pizzerias in the area. I had pizza elsewhere, a week ago, which was really good, but my slices from Carmela’s were much more flavorful. The pepperoni at Carmela’s is better and the buffalo chicken slice I had was out of this world. This is pizza on another level. There’s a reason why Carmela’s has been a top favorite pizzeria of mine for years. That said, their casual and fine dining Italian cuisine is top quality as well. Has been for years. The staff are always friendly, patient, enthusiastic and accommodating, too. Added bonus: try a pint of delicious, homemade Dee’s ice cream!

I dine in and order at Carmelas pizzeria often, and it absolutely deserves five stars! The staff is friendly and attentive and the food itself doesn’t disappoint. They are a family owned business and you can truly feel the family atmosphere when you dine here. My kids and I often enjoy their cauliflower pizza which is a great alternative to a regular slice if you’re looking to cut down on some carbs.
If you are looking for great pizza or for a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere, Carmela’s is must.

Great people, service, and food. A place you just stop by and say hello to the warm, friendly staff even if you’re not ordering. Eating at this wonderful place is like going home to mommas house to have dinner. Family is the experience while eating the best pie we have had in a long time. The calamari was crispy and made to perfection. They made us a secret sauce for the calamari. They rolled out the red carpet for my family. The ambiance and atmosphere was cosmic with all the good energy. I can’t wait to visit again.

What a wonderful staff! Great pizza, love the garlic dogs….. This is a genuine mom and pop shop that provides the best. They close on Sunday for family night and you don’t see that anymore but open on Monday when I somehow have a craving for enjoy

In the neighborhood, kids wanted pizza / pasta. Ordered calamari friti, eggplant rollatini, and the grandpa pie where any other pizzeria would call it a grandma pie.
Grandpa Pie – 10/10. Any other pizzeria, this is a grandma pie. Their grandma has onions and breadcrumbs, which is a grandpa by other pizzerias. Straight to the point, this pizza is amazing. Great flavor. Seasoned perfectly, right amount of sauce, mozzarella, great crust. We devoured this pie. This is a must order. We would come back for the pizza alone.
Calamari friti 7/10 – the large pieces are fried and battered perfectly. Soft and tender. 10/10. The smaller pieces, they shouldn’t serve it, it was tough and hard 3/10. Gave the kids the good large pieces while the adults ate the thin very tough leftovers and the tentacles. A lots of tentacles, never seen so many in a calamari dish. The tentacles were decent, 7/10. No choice, we were too hungry and nothing else served yet, we finished it. If wasn’t too hungry, wouldn’t eat the thin ones at all, that bad.
Eggplant rollatini 6/10. Wouldn’t order this again. The ricotta filling is bland, no flavor. Everything else is great 9.5/10 but the ricotta ruined the dish.
2nd visit:
Ordered the same Grandpa pie. Consistently great 10/10.
Buffalo wings with sauce on side. 10/10. Nice big portions of chicken, not tiny. Haven’t had great Buffalo wings like this on LI. The Buffalo sauce was made perfectly, mild spicy with hint of sweetness. It doesn’t have a chemical taste.
