The best pizza I have had in 50 plus years traveling the world! An exceptional heirloom recipe for their dough makes every artisan slice worthy of savoring each bite and not rushing it! The Gelato is specially made by the family on site and it’s the perfect ending, or beginning, or both, to any meal! They even offer pasta making classes! Enjoy your day at Papa J’s!

Stopped in for a quick bite to take on the road. Tons of options and very fast and friendly service. They even cut the pizza into strips for my son per request. Very cool spot in the strip district!

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch at Papa J’s in the Strip District and were treated so well from start to finish. The service was warm and welcoming, which immediately set the tone for a great experience.
I ordered a simple salad—and sometimes simple is best. Fresh greens, ripe tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and a sprinkle of salt made for a light, delicious meal. My daughter chose the spaghetti with butter and Parmesan, and it was perfection. Chef’s kiss!
Papa J’s has officially become our new favorite Pittsburgh restaurant. Can’t wait to come back!

Great pizza and best pasta dishes in the area! We catered from here for our son’s baptismal luncheon, and the ease of handling a large food order was exceptional, as well as the food. The service is great and they actually recognize names of frequent buyers and are so appreciative of your business. Definitely a recommended spot. Not to mention the gelato is a definite must!

Had the most amazing time here on Mother’s Day. The environment, food, service was all 5 stars. I got an espresso martini and it was delicious with a sugar rim. We started with the burrata it came with some delicious cheesy bread. It was yummy. I then got a piece of pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. I expected the mushrooms to be cooked but they were raw which was fine but next time I wouldn’t get them. We then split the pomodoro pasta it was one of the best pastas I have ever had. So creamy and delicious with pine nuts on top. We then got gelato, I got the salted peanut butter it was very rich and refreshing.

Went there with a group of 13 last night. The food was incredible. Everyone loved their food. The homemade foccia was delicious. Salad portions were generous. The waiter was really funny as well. I loved the sorbet in your alcoholic drinks as well. I would definitely return.

My husband chose this restaurant for our family and it truly was such a treat. From the moment we walked in, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere felt warm, friendly, and welcoming. The owner even took time to give us a tour, which made the experience feel so personal.
The food was delicious and authentic, and it’s a family business! Our children loved watching his daughter make fresh gelato, and he shared a bit of the restaurant’s history along the way. As first time visitors to Pittsburgh, this was a great experience and a highlight of our trip. We would absolutely come back.

Delicious pizza and pasta. It was better than I expected and just as good leftover. The gelato was amazing. Josh was excellent with his service. I saw pasta classes online and plan to sign up for those. This will be my new go to when we are in the city for a show. Failed to take photos of the food- it smelled so good we just started eating.
