Great ambiance. Excellent selection of food. Lamb sliders very good. Lobster bisque was terrific. The pork chop & pork Mac n’ cheese are absolutely delicious.
Must visit.

Come here often for business dinner. Good selection of wine. Cheese selections are my main reason to come here, you cannot go wrong with the cheese-wine afternoon get together with your friends. The food here is average or below average when comparing to other restaurants in town at the same level. Regular menu items are more reliable but the chef seems never tasted the daily specials before they’re offered to the customers. Some of them are poorly prepared, dry and tough to swallow. Prices are for an upscale restaurant, but, I don’t understand, the settings and atmosphere are not better than a McDonald’s. Noise level is too high for even having a conversation with my guests. Why am I paying this price range for dining in the fast-food settings? Waiters and waitress are poorly trained. Cannot even remember our orders for several times. For a wine bar, many of the waiters and waitresses don’t even know how to open a bottle of wine. End up with broken cords or spilling. Some cannot even introduce the items presented in the dishes. Looks to me, It is a very nice concept for a wine bar, but the management is not up to par. For dishes on the menu, I’ll recommend Shiraz-Braised Lamb Shank and Mango-Peppercorn-Glazed Salmon. See my photos for some items I have ordered.

4 Olives has always been a stop on my trips to Manhattan since they opened about ten years ago. The food and service have always been excellent, and some of the dishes have left me speechless at just how delicious they were. The cocktails are amazing, classic and made with homemade ingredients and the best booze. Normally I am not a person who orders wine at restaurants, but I went in last night and they have half price wines on Tuesdays! I bought a bottle of wine there for $14 that would have cost me $25 at the liquor store. Great Idea!! I have actually always enjoyed the interior of the restaurant, but it was located in a really run down strip mall, which made it hard to take guests with me that I wanted to impress. The new location downtown is incredible, I walked in the first time and I was blown away, it really is beautiful. Make sure and save room for desserts, the owner’s wife makes them all, and they are great.

The atmosphere here is very fancy and yet quiet. The staff were very knowledgeable. The food was amazing. I loved my scallops and my boyfriend ordered the perfect steak. We will definitely be back for another date night.

I’m accustomed to multi-course meals and fine dining on the five star scale. This was far from fine as the prices are outrageous for the low quality food and services rendered. Maybe I was expecting too much from a restaurant in this area, or they were simply having a bad night, so I plan to give this place one more shot.
One of my sisters came to visit and we took her out to a “special” dinner at this establishment. Our waitress seemed new, frazzled, and/or lost. She didn’t seem to understand the concept of coming back to refill glasses, clearing dirty dishes from the table, or bringing the bill in a timely manner. We requested straws and she only brought one (surely we’re not expected to share straws, right?).. We wound up asking another waitress in passing to assist us and she was kind and seemed to know how it all works.
The establishment is very nicely decorated, and the atmosphere was conducive to conversational dinners -not too loud, not too quiet. This is the only reason I gave it 3 stars.
The food was awful. We ordered medium-well duck breast with risotto meal, the salmon dinner, the lobster potpie. The duck was overcooked past the point of well done with very chewy risotto. It was not what I ordered but tolerable in taste, although the plating was sloppy. It was far from great but turned out to be the best dish at our table. The entire salmon dinner was simple awful-two stars at best, and the “lobster potpie” was a basic vegetable soup with a few (we literally counted four) small pieces of lobster in it, with a biscuit on top….
I want to give this place another try. I’m hoping that our first experience was an isolated mishap and just happened to be a bad night for both the server and the cook.

So much went wrong with our Valentine’s Day meal. I know it’s a challenging time for restaurants, but the limited prix fixe menu should have helped.
I am not exaggerating when I say we waited over an hour and forty minutes to get our appetizer (I timed it). And no one stopped by our table to update us until after we had been waiting for over an hour. The staff were all clearly in a state of panic, and there was no management on the floor to help smooth things over.
When the food arrived, it was all tragically over salted. My entree, which was a beautiful piece of filet was prepared medium well, not medium rare as I had requested. Again, it was so salty that I couldn’t finish it and didn’t want to take it home. I would have sent it back, but it took over two hours to get it and I was afraid of how long it would take to get another. We should have walked out, but I felt held hostage by the fact that it was Valentine’s Day and we had no other reservations or options.

4Olives catered our wedding this year and they were PHENOMENAL! Scott is a true chef and worked with us to have whatever food we wanted. We chose a beef kabob over rice for our entree, with hor d’oeuvres including a fantastic fruit and cheese plate, trout mousse crostinis, and mac and cheese shooters (not on the catering menu, one of the items we requested). He also helped us pair several fantastic wines to our meal and appetizers.
Not only was the wine and food fantastic, but they took care of everything! Several servers walked around refilling wine glasses and offering appetizers, completely avoiding that awkward moment at a party when everyone is afraid to approach the buffet. They also poured the sodas which we had provided ourselves. They kept our timeline going, set the table, served the food (again, no horrible buffet line), and cleaned up absolutely everything. As a laid-back bride who, looking back, was totally unprepared, they completely made the reception what it was! I received tons of compliments from our guests about the delicious food and wine, friendly and professional servers, and even what fun it was to have them cooking in the kitchen! What a great atmosphere!
I was also pleasantly surprised at the bill! We originally had not considered 4Olives because they are the nicest restaurant in town and we assumed (incorrectly) that they were wildly expensive. We compared prices to places like Famous Dave’s and we only paid $2 more per guest than we would have for mediocre, lukewarm food served buffet style. Considering the quality of the food, the fun atmosphere and everything they did for us, it was DEFINITELY worth the minimal price difference!
If you are planning an event, you need to talk to Scott (and Rachel at 4Cakes, who did our wedding cake :)) and have him cater for you! Hands-down the best food and the best value in town! We really can’t thank them enough for making our wedding reception what it was!

Waitress Anna was outstanding. The menu was very interesting. The food was okay.
The overwhelming negative was the pounding of ice at the bar that resonates throughput the dining room.
If you are wanting to have dinner in a room that you would swear was under remodeling. ……it’s your place!

Wine list is outstanding and the food is over-the-top, to-die-for. Hands down, the best risotto I’ve ever had. Very impressive awards collection and nothing on the menu disappoints. Crab dip, crab cakes, filet, scallops, rabbit, specials–everything is phenomenal. Cannot recommend it highly enough!!

Last night I had by far the worst Valentine’s Day of my life. We made reservations well before for 7, and we were seated promptly, I will give them that. However, by 7:20, we still hadn’t ordered or even received water. After waving down a waitress, she apologized, filled our water glasses and we didn’t see her again until 7:30. At that point we ordered (the prix fixe menu that we were not warned about that cost $87/person) and we just wanted our food. This dinner was set up in 4 courses: the amuse-bouche, appetizer, entree, and dessert. We never saw the amuse-bouche, and were instead given our appetizer at 8. We decided to accept it because we were desperate for any kind of food. This course was actually pretty tasty. Mine was lamb ragout with sweet potato gnocchi, my husband’s was also tasty and was a wild mushroom risotto. However, we waiting an additional half hour for our entree at 8:30. This food was AWFUL. I cannot express to you how badly this tasted. I watched nearly every couple around me react in the same way, many dishes being sent back. I had the filet mignon, which in itself was not too bad, but they (for reasons I will never understand) covered it in some sort of gravy goo that can only be described as having similar properties to black tar. Even the potatoes my filet mignon was served with was horrific. The powdery, dry mash they handed me was indigestible. My husband had the salmon, and I had no idea that salmon could taste so frozen. It was like eating the packaging the salmon came in with. Neither of us finished our meals and held back laughter when the waitress asked if we wanted our leftovers boxed up. The dessert came (after 9) and what I thought would be the only really good aspect to this meal because of 4 Cakes, made me pause and consider my existence. I don’t know how a chocolate cake could taste so bad. I cannot fathom what was going through their minds when they were producing such a thing that he EPA would not allow to simply be thrown out. My husband’s lemon blackberry ice box (?) dessert was so sour, it seemed they ran out of sugar and just thought we wouldn’t notice. Again, neither of us finished our dessert, and again had difficulty keeping a straight face when asked if we wanted to take it home.
At the end of this entire fiasco (*cough* hostage situation *cough*) we simply could not wait to get out of this restaurant that we had been kept in for over two and a half hours. I’ll repeat TWO AND A HALF HOURS. When we received the bill, they wanted us to pay the full price of $85/person (coming to $170). I have never heard of a situation where two people had as miserable a time as we did and then be required to pay nearly $200 after tip for it. We argued that the bill should be lower (but still desperately searching for the exit). They did cut our bill in half, but I still maintain that even an $85 bill was incredible amount to pay for the experience we had. I will never go back to this restaurant.
I believe my words leaving the restaurant sum it up best: “Honey, my dying words will be I love you followed shortly by never eat at 4 Olives.”
