I recently visited Mimo’s Pizza for lunch, and I have to say, the atmosphere is absolutely charming. It’s a quaint and cozy spot, perfect for a date night with its romantic vibe. However, for someone just looking for a casual lunch, the prices felt a bit steep — especially in the economy we’re all living in today.
I ordered a medium pizza with spinach alfredo and sausage. The base price was around $15, and each topping added another $3, bringing my total close to $30 for a single pizza. While the pizza was tasty, that price point feels unrealistic for one person just trying to grab lunch. In times like these, restaurants really need to consider more affordable options or lunch-friendly specials.
When I visited, I was the only customer in the restaurant — not a soul in sight. I’m sure they do solid business on weekends, but offering something more reasonably priced or more inviting for late-lunch customers could bring in much more traffic during the quieter hours.
That said, the service was friendly, and the ambiance is undeniably inviting. If you’re planning a romantic date or sharing a meal, it might be worth it. But for a budget-conscious solo lunch, it’s definitely a splurge.
Portions are generous for what you pay. I think that two could probably share the baked ziti if you also get appetizers. Overall, fresh, hot, delicious food at a reasonable price.
We will be back. Often.
The inside of the restaurant was cozy and quiet, which we appreciated, especially compared to the packed, louder alternatives. The pizza did look appealing from what we saw being served to other tables, but for some reason, none of us ended up ordering it. That may have been our mistake.
Instead, my mother and I both ordered the manicotti, and it was unfortunately overcooked and tough. The chicken tenders and wings were also overdone and dry. I mentioned this politely to the waiter—not looking for a discount, just giving honest feedback. What disappointed me most was that the owner, who was also the cook and was clearly present, didn’t come out to acknowledge the issue. Instead, he had the waiter handle the entire conversation, which felt like a missed opportunity for leadership and hospitality.
Was it the worst meal I’ve had? Not at all. But for a $175 bill (plus a $52 tip to our kind server), I expected a bit more care in the food and ownership of the customer experience. I run several businesses myself, and I know how important feedback is. You only get better when you listen and engage.
I may give their pizza a try one day, as that seemed like the highlight, but for now, I think there are plenty of other places to explore.
Between that time and me showing up to pick up my food, a delivery driver had shown up to pick up my food. Instead of holding my food as we had agreed upon the Mimo’s employee released the food to go with the driver. The employee can’t help me and the owner tells me that it’s my problem not his and that he will not refund me my money. The owner is extremely self-righteous and tried to tell me how I should talk and behave. Up until that point I was respectful, after being told that my over $50 order was my loss, I no longer was able to hold my composure.
The food did eventually show up, over an hour past it’s latest delivery time, and was cold to the touch. It tasted ok, but not worth the price or the hassle.
Thankfully the people operating the slice app have integrity and refunded me my money.
I will not be going here ever again. The lack of communication, customer service, and most importantly integrity are all I need to know about this place that I won’t be going back.
The spaghetti and meatballs – The meatballs were good but the sauce – oh that marinara sauce, it tasted sour and very unappealing. Not sure what happened. In the past it was always so good. This time I couldn’t eat but 4-5 bites, I ended up throwing it away. This was NOT the Mimos I was expecting and had grown accustomed to.
We have been coming here for almost 6 years since moving from California.
We’re a bit particular of good food, and every time we dine in here it feels as though the Mimo family cooks just for us.
We have our go-tos.
Hubby likes the Tomato Basil Pasta. My go to is the Seafood linguini.
I personally also think they have the best calamari ever. It’s light. Not overly breaded or greasy.
The marinara here is delish, I’ve heard three people tell me they could drink it by the jug >_<
Portions are sufficient for one, not family style to share and have all these leftovers, which I personally like.
Having worked in a New York-style Pizzeria for approximately 4 years myself, I do opine that their pizza here (at least cheese and cheese + pep options) are 10/10.
Prices are also very fair.
If you like a clean portion of Italian fare locally, (we’ve tried all the other options around)… we highly recommend Mimo’s.
