Wow! Absolutely incredible food and service! We are visiting the area for the weekend and were blown away by our experience at The Library Kitchen & Bar. We ordered the goat cheese bruschetta, the poached pear & arugula salad, the elk tenderloin, and the pecan crusted grouper. We will talk about their food for months to come! Not to mention the wonderful cocktails, wine, fruit cobbler, and croissant bread pudding. Everything was amazing and excellently prepared. Our server, Hailey, was so kind, welcoming, and a big part of us enjoying our special night out in Cashiers! We even had the honor of meeting the exceptional Chef Klapdohr! He and his team made us feel like family! If you are in the area, please visit The Library. You will be so glad you did! It will be the first place we go when we visit North Carolina again!

When our caterer canceled the morning of our daughter’s wedding during a snowstorm, Chef Johannes and The Library stepped in with five hours’ notice and saved the day.
The night before, Chef Johannes and his team at The Library in Sapphire, NC had hosted our rehearsal dinner — and it was wonderful. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional.
Then Saturday morning, everything changed. Because they had generously shared their personal cell numbers with Brock’s mom during rehearsal dinner planning (that’s the kind of people they are), we were able to call Liz directly. She answered immediately and connected us to Chef Johannes. Within minutes, he said yes.
With five hours’ notice, he prepared a beautiful buffet meal for nearly 100 guests: chicken, fish, and beef; perfectly prepared vegetables and potatoes; an incredible salad; and delicious appetizers. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented.
Five hours. One hundred people. In a snowstorm.
What I will remember most is his demeanor — calm, creative, steady. He didn’t make the situation dramatic; he simply got to work and made it happen.
Chef Johannes and Liz truly saved our daughter’s wedding reception.

Dinner was amazing. Picked the restaurant out of curiosity due to flavor pairings from menu. Our server Sydney was perfect. The service was top notch. She recommended every dish we tried and we were not disappointed. Compliments to the chef on our dishes. The bread pudding and wild mushroom soup were delectable.

This place is amazing! We went two nights in a row and tried almost everything on the menu! The food is off the chain! The art and atmosphere was great! And the bartender, Matthew and good wife were amazing as well! Highly recommend!

What a great find. Delightful atmosphere. Excellent and friendly waite staff. Portions were nice. Quail schnitzel was different and tasty. Escargot was interesting. Trout was good, but the puree under it was outstandingly delicious. The short ribs were so very tasty. That vegan tiramisu, gotta find that recipe because it’s an amazing dessert for company. Bottom line, a place to return to so we can try other items on the menu.

Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Not only is the food exceptional and creative, but the customer service is off the charts! Great warm, inviting culture from the entire staff and ownership. Something that is hard to find today. The environment is wonderful as well. Cozy and inviting. The food was awesome.
Everything we had was delicious.
This restaurant offers dishes that you will not see in every restaurant.
I had the pork ribeye and it was so tender it was like a filet mignon.
You have to try the homemade mulled wine. It was the best.
We met Chef Johannes on the way out and spoke with him for a bit and took some pictures.
He was so friendly and personable and made our evening extra special.

AMAZING! We chose The Library to host our son’s rehearsal dinner for 65 guests. The food was outstanding and the service impeccable. Chef Johannes and Liz made every effort to ensure our event was perfect! They have a wonderful team of servers and make each guest feel special. Chef is a true artist! What an amazing experience!! The cuisine was amazing totally phenomenal!!! Karen was our server who was top, notch She made it special as tonight was my wife’s birthday everything was just amazing. I could go on forever telling you how wonderful this place is and don’t let me forget to tell you about how talented the chef and his staff are prices for the entrees and everything on the menu was wellworth, the quality you would expect to pay a lot more for this. My husband took me to dinner here for my birthday. We were visiting from out of town and wow were we blown away!! 1st we were greeted with a smile as we entered to my table where they had a rose for me for my birthday. Then they gave my son some extra special attention too by offering him a Shirley Temple and some candy for after dinner. Karen was our server and she went above and beyond. THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL!! I never had Elk before! It was tender and juicy and cooked to perfection with truffle mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. My husband had a pork rib eye and he devoured it mumbling about how delicious it was the entire time he ate. As we were leaving Chef came out to greet us and we truelly enjoyed his hospitality. We laughed and talked and took photos. Chef, his staff and his establishment is one of a kind! It is a truly unique experience, one I would recommend to anyone! Thank you for making my birthday ao special.
