Upscale riverview steakhouse at the Gaylord National Hotel that’s known for its cheese selection.

This is a late review, but I could not let these photos sit in my camera roll without expressing just how delicious my meal was back in October at Old Hickory. I had checked out of the hotel and needed to buy some time until my flight so decided to drop by the restaurant for a solo dinner. Luckily, they took walk-ins so I was quickly seated and greeted by the most amazing waiter that I have ever had. His name escapes me, but he was a tall older gentleman who had so much personality and was extremely courteous. I kept my meal simple. I ordered the filet and a side of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Oh, and a cocktail. Everything was great! The mashed potatoes were flawless, velvety, buttery… perfect. And my steak was well cooked and had such flavorful crust! I can’t wait to go back next year for this event to order the same thing!

Truly an unforgettable experience. It was not busy at all, so the dinner was extremely relaxing. We found that the steak tartare was not on the menu, so we asked our brilliant waiter Steve. He hooked us up with two, and then continued the dining experience amazingly. He was the best part of our meal, really relatable and extremely funny. I got the steak and crab cake surf and turf. Loved the food and the service, please come here if you’re in the area. especially for Magfest.

Amazing Food — Disappointing Service
We stayed at the Gaylord this weekend and were excited to try Old Hickory for dinner. The food was truly the highlight — the chef deserves recognition. The smoked oysters and scallop appetizer were delicious, and the main courses (lobster mac & cheese, steak, and branzino) were flavorful overall, though the branzino were on the thin side and could have used a bit more seasoning.
Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the kitchen. When I joined my son at the bar and ordered a glass of wine, we were never given coasters, napkins, or silverware — I had to request them. Once seated at a table with my grandchildren, the issues continued. Our server was not attentive, never cleared plates between courses, and I found myself getting up multiple times throughout the meal to request ketchup, bread, and additional drinks.
For a $671 dining experience, I expected far better service and hospitality — especially at a restaurant in such a premier hotel. Great food can take a restaurant far, but great service is what makes guests return. I truly hope the management addresses these issues, because the culinary team is doing incredible work and deserves service staff that matches their excellence.

It was 1:28 p.m. when we got to the restaurant and the hostess was very rude telling us we had 2 minutes if we wanted to place an order before we were even being seated or told that we had to go sit at the bar for happy hour. I was ready to walk out the door but my wife wanted to stay, I was very happy we did. We took a seat at the bar and Rochelle was our bartender. She was the only person working at that point taking care of everyone at the bar and people that were seated at the tables around us. She was absolutely amazing, she kicked but keeping up with everybody serving food and getting drinks and doing it all. She also made sure to take time and stop to check on us numerous times while we sat and chatted and ate and drank. Her shift ended around 4:00 p.m., while we were sitting there, and we noticed that it took four people to do the job that she was just doing alone. Definitely recommend stopping in and sitting at the bar and ask for Rochelle.

My wife and I had an incredible experience coming here! The reviews made me hesitate on coming here and I assumed we needed a reservation for a table. We were greeted by very friendly staff as a walk-in and were offered a table in less than 10 minutes. Our waiter was very kind, professional, and helped made our experience even better! I believe his name was Patrico? I apologize if I got the name wrong. He upgraded my wine when they didn’t have what I wanted available. He even gave us a small surprise of incredible milk and white chocolates after our meals! We left very full and satisfied. I believe this was one of the most incredible crab cakes I’ve ever experienced and the duck was incredibly remarkable. You take a bite and you walk into an experience of flavor. It was a very remarkable fine dining experience that will leave my wife and I very happy memories. Highly recommend this restaurant with this waiter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of my best breakfast options when in New Harbor , best in class no complaints. Omelets are nice and fluffy, plenty of vegetables, thick slice of bacon not crisp but heat flavor. Prices are not bad even for hotel restaurant. Highly recommend , foods is way better than dinner in my experience buy food that look at my dinner review. Netsi did an awesome job serving my takes on one, foods came out quickly and tasted really good.

Excellent choice when staying at the Gaylord National Harbor! Attentive, friendly service from Happy & other wait staff. All of our food & drinks were delicious, including 2 different salads, crab dip & cosmos… the bread served at the table is a must try! Nice ambiance, elevated pricing, but average for that area. Had wonderful conversation & service from the bartenders too. Would definitely return!

Excellent restaurant! July 4th weekend in D.C. The restaurant is in the Gaylord. The food, service, and atmosphere are all wonderful. We brought our kids, and they enjoyed it as well. It was a later dinner, and so we ordered the hanger steak, the braised short ribs, my aunt ordered the 1/2 roasted chicken. Everything was delicious, and the flavors were very good. I especially love the decor, theme and atmosphere was sophisticated but comfortable. A definite must try if at the National Harbor or staying at the Gaylord.
