I ordered the three meat plate that came with brisket a pork rib and sausage. The barbecue sauce delicious. I have never been to a barbecue place that poured barbecue sauce all over the meat. It is typically served on the side so you can taste the flavor of the barbecued meat. I guess there was a reason for that. The sausage was good. The brisket was so dried out I did not eat it. The pork rib had a couple of bites that had some fat and was good but the rest was dry. Collard greens good. Macaroni and cheese a hard no. I drove out from Green Valley because I heard this was the place. Good customer service. Reasonable price but when you only eat a quarter of the meal it’s not a good deal in the end.

If you’re looking for good BBQ in Tucson, Mr. K’s is a great option. Especially if, like me, you like mesquite. I live in Texas now and for the most part its oak, oak, oak which is also delicious but this was a welcomed change.
I didn’t try everything they had to offer because their menu goes beyond just BBQ and I didn’t even try all they had to offer BBQ wise here’s what I got along side my honest opinion.
Brisket: Good smoke flavor, tender, fat was well rendered, there was a good bark. Delicious with or without sauce.
Hot Links: Great snap to the casings, meaty, juicy, mesquite smoke shows up well, not as hot as I’d like but very good.
Beef Ribs: Cooked well, good flavor and bark, tad lacking in juiciness but nothing their delicious sauce can’t help you over look.
Sauce: thin, tangy, and sweet that gives the meat a nice kick without being too overbearing.
Coleslaw: it tastes like apple pie. I don’t know how they do it but it’s unique and delicious for sure.
Texas beans: spicy, smoky, almost chili like consistency. Very good.
Sweet potatoes: I could eat 5 lbs of just these little nuggets of deliciousness. VERY sweet .. like swimming in syrup sweet but the 1/4 sized cubes of tender sweet potatoes are just savory enough to make it not too sweet. This is a must try if you haven’t.
Overall Mr. K’s is a great place to itch the BBQ scratch for a more than fair price and I’m looking forward to trying what I missed…and more sweet potatoes …. on my next visit.

Okay so here we are again with another barbecue review. And I can refreshingly say with the utmost confidence. This is single-handedly the best barbecue all of Tucson there’s a enormous difference in quality and ingredients it is on the messy side but holy hell that’s bbq and THIS is DAMN GOOD BBQ. Do yourself a favor get their yams and beans the beans are smoky and light while being packed with flavor those yams are straight from the south and their brisket was coated in a HOMEMADE BBQ SAUCE.

I hate to not give Mr. K 5 stars all the way down because his food is awesome.. the ribs, coleslaw and mac and cheese were off the chart. The Brisket was good but not the best I ever had. Please don’t get me wrong, this is one of the top 10 BBQ places I have ever been.

Killer pork ribs, great bark and smoke layer. I love the crispy bits and the fatty chunks. Their house BBQ sauce is sweet, savory, and spiced well. Hot links melt in your mouth and the brisket doused in sauce won’t do you wrong. Don’t miss their beans…insane flavor on those. I would come here just for those flavor packed beans. This stuff is made with love!

BEST BBQ IN TUCSON AZ! Flavor packed with more flavor would highly recommend trying sauce on the side because it’s so delicious you may want to drink it! The grape cool aid with sprite mix was GAS I did t try one thing that I thought could be better I was raised on SOUL FOOD and this met all the criteria of being THE BEST SOUL FOOD IN TUCSON. Even though it’s a bbq place it will remind you of grandma’s kitchen.

Catfish was good,nothing special to it., then it was served with a Kraft premade tarter sauce,yuck ! Never been to a real southern joint with Kraft tarter sauce..would’ve made it to make a homemade tarter sauce to compliment the catfish. The coleslaw was weird, had a cinnamon sweet taste . Not sure about that either. The greens were good. The corn muffin tasted too sweet and premade tasting. The brisket was surprisingly good !

I moved to Tucson from Pennsylvania in 2023. I’ve been hearing quite a few people talk about this place. I finally stopped in today and got the catfish plate with mixed greens and candied sweet potatoes. It was by far the absolute best food I’ve had since I’ve been here!! Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection! I will definitely be back.
