I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, el taco loco is the best mexican restaurant uptown. the past 4 years of living in Nola, if I want mexican I am coming here. Get ONE margarita and u will not need more drinks for a WHILE. Incredible (and free!!) options of hot sauce & lime wedges. You could stay for an hour (chill/fun ambiance), or be in/out for 15 minutes. Their balcony upstairs + margarita + friends + carnitas tacos = my heaven

Came in with a friend for lunch. First time here. We each got some tacos. I tried the tinga, al pastor, carnitas, and ground beef. I think the tinga was the clear winner. Seasoning could have been a bit more forward on everything, but still a decent option for a cheap lunch. Tacos are fairly priced.

The one word that comes to mind for me to describe this place is “sensational.” The warm welcoming atmosphere and the quality of food is unmatched!! Don’t forget to pair your food with a delicious margarita! Also the prices are very fair!

This is my spot for tacos, no question.

The best spot for Taco Tuesday in New Orleans. They have $2 tacos and $4 small margaritas on Tuesdays. On Tuesday’s there is usually a lot of Tulane students and a line but it moves pretty fast. The food is delicious and there is plenty of seating ( they also have a balcony). I ordered 3 chicken tacos and my friend got a steak quesadilla with margaritas of course. We definitely enjoyed. I would highly recommend checking El Taco Loco out.

I came out about 12pm on a Monday, I ordered the nachos which were advertised as $12, they rung it up as $13. I got birria , pico and guac on my nacho, they said guac was extra. I also asked them to remove the piece of hair that was on my plate and they got an attitude. Supposedly $12 nachos plus a drink totaled $25 for stale chips and cold queso

The best Tacos I’ve ever had. So glad I found this as all other NOLA Mexican food has been baaaad(as someone who lived in Texas). The tacos were only $6 for three and the shell alone is worth it, it is warm soft and melts in your mouth. Everything is incredibly fresh and overwhelmingly delicious!!

Yall. I had a hankering for nachos. My husband went out to hunt and gather and has just returned triumphant…or not. I open the “nacho” box only to find that they have forgotten to put any cheese on the nachos. This is a fundamental flaw in nacho making that really brings down my rating of an otherwise usually tasty restaurant. Like if you can’t remember to put cheese on your nachos, I fear for what else may be being overlooked. Maybe the universe is telling me to eat more healthfully. Ugh.

I am rating this based on an authentic Mexican cuisine experience. This place is the most authentic I have been to yet in the S Carrollton avenue area. (I have yet to go to the one across the street though).

You definitely feel like you’re in Mexico, being served by Mexican cooks, in a Mexican owned restaurant, being charged less-expensive Mexican prices. It helps if you speak Spanish to communicate what you want.

The food is served Chipotle-style behind a glass which really speeds things up. The spicy chicken taco with my own array of toppings tasted the best to me. Tortillas are perfectly browned, well filled. I love Mexican street food so it’s a win for me!

Small details, like napkins available on the above deck, good music/sound system, large space, and outdoor fans seal the deal for me. Well thought-out establishment that reflects more value than the prices they charge.

My favorite taco spot in the whole city. That queso is magic and their margaritas hit the spot. Wonderful variety of meats and friendly staff. I seriously dream about this place. It’s that good!
