We came to this restaurant craving gorditas with egg and chile de árbol salsa, and they made them special just for us — exactly how we wanted. My partner wanted lettuce in his, I wanted cabbage in mine, and they even did that. They hooked us up with a side of nopales, grilled onions, fresh agua de piña, and esquites. Everything was delicious, I’m stuffed, and I still have enough leftovers to take home. Always clean, always top‑notch service. #AboveAndBeyond

Food was amazing. Had to stop midway to right them a glowing review. Everything tasted super fresh, came out very fast. Loved the smoky salsa but everything we had was good. Service guy was very friendly and muchas gracias amigo.

First time here. Very small building. About 6 tables inside. I ordered a simple 2 taco plate, ate inside. Staff was great. Friendly. Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican food. Something as simple as beef tacos but great flavor! Hot sauce was extremely tasty.

My fiancée and I love this place. Mi Familia has to be one of the only restaurants in all of Statesville that we can go to and expect a consistent experience. I have yet to be disappointed when we come here — except when they’re closed or away on vacation!
As a California kid who grew up loving street tacos, Mi Familia really brings that true home-cooked flavor to the table. I often order carne asada tacos with onion and cilantro (pretty standard, I know), and my fiancée always gets arroz con pollo — and despite being a picky eater, I have yet to hear a complaint about her order.
Surprisingly, I don’t have any photos at the table here, but their overall presentation is good. The flavor is on point, all the time, every time. Staff is friendly and always welcoming; they always seem happy that you’re there. This isn’t fine-dining in any capacity, so don’t expect to be waited on like table-service restaurants; seat yourself and someone will be with you with the quickness, though, and if you need something don’t be shy to get up and ask at the counter — they won’t bite, I promise.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an eating experience that feels like you were invited to eat your favorite tío’s cooking.

If you like true authentic Mexican food, look no further! Don’t let the outside appearance of this place dissuade you! It is a hole-in-the-wall but the food is spot-on! I went with my Mexican friend and he ordered some off-menu items (Pupusas) that were killer! The food is delicious! We also tried the Gorditas which I can highly recommend. The staff is very friendly and the drinks were cold! I can highly recommend this place if you want true and authentic Mexican food – a nice change from the bigger Americanized Mexican food places.

Being from California, I have been searching the entire East Coast for a Mexican food restaurant that actually knows how to cook REAL Mexican food, it took me five years but I finally found La Familia here in Statesville and they DO NOT DISAPPOINT! Hands down, the best Mexican food I’ve had since moving from California (THE BEST BY FAR!) And to top it off, their prices are VERY reasonable! My son and I both got entire meals, drinks, and sides of rice and beans for $21!! They gained a new loyal customer today!! I’ll be back two or three times a week, really, it’s that good!!
