My wife loved Iron Wok, and she introduced it to me earlier this week. She likes the Hunan Chicken but is allergic to mushrooms. Not a problem! I said to hold the mushrooms, and this was not a problem. The Angry Chicken here is extra angry – I asked for it extra spicy, and this was one of the spiciest dishes I’ve ever had. Delicious! They also have great rice and crab rangoons!

So… never been here before and I Googled some reviews and decided to try it out. I’m sure glad I did!! I was greeted by several people there and I felt very comfortable about getting there 45 minutes before closing. I was the only one in the restaurant and I felt like I belonged here. Jada, my personal food assistant helped me with some of the options and since I wanted to sample a few things made some great suggestions. Let me say, from the hot and sour soup to the jalapeño rangoons and egg rolls to the Angry Combo… my taste buds were singing and dancing!! It was all super amazing. The freshness of the veggies to the broth in the soup, you could tell it was super fresh and packed with flavor. Truly didn’t disappoint! The jalapeño rangoons were to die for! Tons of jalapeño bits and creamy cream cheese… I swear the rangoons were the size of my fist! It was like getting 3 regular rangoons in one! The most amazing dish was the Angry Combo. I went with the mid level spice called, yep, you guessed it, Angry. I’m used to eating spicy foods since I was raised in a southern Arizona city. No lie… this dish was the high point of my trip to Des Moines. The shrimp was plump and succulent like it came straight from the ocean. The rest of the dish was buttery and savory and made me wish I had this restaurant back home so I could be the Cliff Claven of this place! I could go here and take a break from all my worries and know that everyone here would know my name and glad that I came! I will miss this adventure and yes, I will certainly come back again!

Food was very tasty and looked fresh, the wait was worth it!! This was the first time trying the restaurant as my mom wanted Chinese food and we were close to the restaurant. We waited about 25 minutes but like I mentioned the food was fresh and the taste was awesome. Will definitely order again. We ordered broccoli chicken, vegetable fried rice, vegetable tofu lo mein and szechuan beef. All was amazing!

Went to Iron Wok for dinner today. Had chicken and very fresh vegetables, medium spicy, over steamed rice, hot and sour soup, egg roll, jasmine tea. Enough entree left for a second home meal. Not a fancy place but nice folks, great service and very good food.

We love trying “mom and pop” restaurants and Iron Wok didn’t disappoint. Owner was so friendly and place was clean. Ordered a lot of food which was excellent. “Very angry” spice level is very spicy. Would highly recommend this restaurant and am a huge supporter and fan of family owned places! The picture is of the “very angry” combo (could smell the “heat” before I even tasted it).

I love the place.
Great food, great prices! What else can you ask for.
Food is always fresh, piping hot and the portions are generous.
Nina is an amazing host, will always walk up to you to check if all’s good . An amazingly warm person.
I am a regular, and will be so for the foreseeable future.
Don’t miss this hidden gem of a food place if you are in the West Des Moines area. Right across the street from the WDM Walmart

Small eatery in the strip mall. Nice menu. The egg rolls were crispy. Huge quantity and we took home for next day.

I couldn’t post this yesterday, as my mouth was on fire and I was seeing ✨ .
VERY ANGRY COMBO lunch (beef, chicken, shrimp) lives up to its name, and it was so good. I’m totally going back for that again, came with an egg roll or crabmeat rangoon option.
Happy Family. with zero spice (lame!), was delicious – says my friend that ordered it. I would’ve tried it but my taste buds were shot by then.
Crabmeat rangoons were so so, but I’m a savory fan and these are sweet. I would’ve gotten the jalapeño crabmeat rangoons, but my friend, who shall remain nameless for her own safety from us spicy lovers, doesn’t like jalapenos…I KNOW, RIGHT??? Maybe next time I’ll still try them.
And there will be a next time because I’m already thinking about what else I can order VERY ANGRY! Just writing this is making my mouth water. Great lunch spot close to JC Mall. Super sweet lady up front.

We have been wanting to try Iron Wok and SO glad we finally did! The food was delicious, colorful and served timely. The customer service was excellent and the environment was cozy. My husband had the general TSO and I had the chicken and mushrooms. They also had the coolest looking fortune cookies. We will definitely be back!

I ordered kung pao over the phone and wanted chicken but wasn’t sure I specified so I got the combo which I did not want. Hot and sour soup was the least hot I’ve ever had. Meal seemed mediocre.
