I’ve been coming here since this was my local neighborhood joint, and even though I’ve moved, it’s still the first place I think of when I want sushi in NYC. There is a rare sense of hospitality here; the chef and staff are incredibly engaging and make every visit feel like a celebration. Whether you’re stopping in for their unbeatable lunch specials or settling in for the full omakase experience in the evening, you’re in for a treat. They strike the perfect balance between honoring traditional techniques and surprising you with inventive, modern pieces. Always worth the trip back.

One of the absolute best dinners of my life. The sushi was fresh, the omakase was personal and i loved the decor. You feel like you’re in a small local restaurant in Japan. I can’t get enough of this place. I will be back 100x more.

I went to Sushi You last weekend and it was delicious! It’s definitely a hole in the wall restaurant so hard to miss but if you are lucky enough to find it, you are in for a treat! The restaurant is run by the sushi chef couple and you can definitely sense the authenticity. They make you feel like you are just invited to their house for some good food! I got the omakase and also the hot food. The quality was amazing so if you are in the area, please go and treat yourself!

That was the best sushi I’ve ever had. Loved the family vibe. The sake was flowing and laughs were made. Thank you for a wonderful evening with friends!

We’ve had a disappointing experience at Sushi You tonight. The restaurant was advertised in various places as an omakase where you can give the chef a budget and have a great experience. Right when we sat down we were surprised by the listed prices — much higher per piece than other omakases in the city at $65 for 6 pieces or $110 for 10.
We decided to opt for the items on the menu thinking we will just go à la cart.
The owner/hostess said this was not an option, and we must choose one of the omakase options on the menu. She only said this once we’d ordered a number of appetizers and she did not mention the ability to provide our own budget for the omakase.
While the food was pretty good and the chef was nice and friendly we felt like we ended up spending significantly more than we planned for and received little in return.
I don’t think the place is necessarily bad, but you need to know what you’re going for, which is NOT a budget omakase.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! Give the chef a budget, and let him go to work! Went there for my birthday, and it turned out to be one of the best birthday meals I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to go back there, highly recommend!

Hit this up on a Wednesday for lunch! Such an amazing deal and the chef was super generous!
We got Combo C for $68/each. It was ramen and 7 piece omakase.
It’s a true hidden gem! Make a reso and head over!

To say 30% of the experience was the fun and charming environment, the service, and interacting with Chef Micu would suggest the quality and deliciousness of sushi was only worth 70% of our meal – this is absolutely not the case. I’ve had outstanding omakase elsewhere but this took the cake. Incredible, fresh sushi, excellent service, and the chef is a complete charm. Dinner was just FUN! We made another reservation before we had finished our meal. My only second thought was for the $110 menu, I would have thought I’d leave slightly more indulged. I don’t think the $80 menu would have been enough for dinner.

Still the best sushi in NYC. ❤️❤️❤️ Been coming here for years. Miku-san is the best sushi chef this side of the pacific.
For Covid they have to tables outside, and one of them is heated. They also do delivery! ❤️❤️ Support your local restaurants!

This lovely Japanese sushi place had not only high quality of sushi, you can also get delicious food from their kitchen. I visited this place around 2016 and this place never changes. Recommend to visit this place during the lunch time as well.
