Frankies’ at the Casanova

Frankies’ at the Casanova is right at the crossroads in the heart of Pecos. We stopped here after a morning exploring Pecos Canyon in Pecos State Park (not to be missed.) The entrance of the restaurant is festooned with planters. And the porch and patio with its chile ristras offer a homey welcome. The interior has the feeling of an old adobe ranch house with high, log-beamed, wooden ceilings, white adobe walls and an imposing fireplace anchoring the large room. We were warmly greeted and seated with our drink orders taken immediately. The menu is a mixture of New Mexican and American fare. We both ordered Green Chile Cheeseburgers with Fries. (Sweet Potato Fries were also on the menu.) The burger was good and the green chiles were diced, topping the burger. This was a delightful zippy surprise every time I bit into a chunk. The dining room had quite a few separate parties but it was quiet (71dB) and very conducive to conversation. It’s a great local spot (open 8 am to 2 pm) if you find yourself in Pecos. And if you visit be sure to drive down the road to Pecos National Historic Park to walk the beautiful ancient Pueblo ruins and see the spectacular adobe remnants of the Spanish mission there.

I enjoy stopping at Frankie’s every time I go fishing in that area. They never disappoint. The food and service are consistent and excellent. I really enjoy eating in that old building. What a beautiful place and a great example of New Mexico architecture. I’m not sure if it’s a historic landmark but it probably should be.

On our way back from Pecos National Park, it was recommended we stop at Frankies at the Casanova for lunch. Food was fabulous, service was fantastic and we loved the historic building. The green chili stew, the beef enchilada in red sauce and chicken enchilada in green sauce were fantastic. Be sure to try their house homemade dessert! We would highly recommend. It was one of our favorite meals during our time in Santa Fe!

We were visiting the area from out of town and decided to stop in for lunch.

This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere that gives off Old West Saloon vibes. This place also appears to be very popular among locals, even selling pantry staples such as fresh eggs!

Overall the food was very good. We would highly recommend the Green Chile Stew and Red Chile Ground Beef Enchilada Casserole as they were both delicious!

We would definitely suggest that you make Frankie’s a destination if you’re in the area!!

Best breakfast meal in the most historic western venue on our week long Santa Fe trip! Felt like visiting with family. Enchilada casserole super tasty. My girlfriend labeled her chai latte, “the best I ever tasted”. Not often you eat in an abobe building that was both once a brothel and a church. Kudos to Brian, the proprietor.

Don’t miss you chance to experience Frankies at the Casanova! GREAT food and desserts, warm, rustic, interesting environment. I always make plans to eat here when visiting the Santa fe/Pecos area. When it’s cold and snowy outside you can backup to the fireplace and warm up. You won’t regret your time spent at Frankies. Be well!
Brian, thank you for all your hospitality! Dwayne
