UPDATE: Folks, I was wrong. Writing this review made me hungry enough for a Buffalo super crunch that I ordered one and said let the lord do what he will. Subjected myself to fate. The sandwich was 11/10. The fries were probably the best cheesy ranch fries I’ve ever had. The new photos I included are from this morning.
I want to apologize to the good folks at Hero, as well as Wil Drake for invoking his name and trying to start a coup. This was my favorite eating experience in a long time. Pocket Dalai Lama approves.
P.S. they also have a bunch of other really great food and the best donuts I’ve ever had.

Ugh this makes me so sad to write. I’ve been going to Hero for years now. Back when it was just a single location by Nabeel’s, before Pihakis. I’d get their food a few times a month. The buffalo super crunch was hands down one of my favorite things in the world. She was messy, ranchy, and utterly delicious. Then Pihakis came along and like in most similar situations, the quality declined greatly. The picture I included is what the buffalo super crunch has looked like the last year or two. I keep trying it in hopes that someone there will go, “hey, this was way better before. We should just make it how we did.” But reason doesn’t always prevail.
Mr. Drake, please start a new place that has the original buffalo super crunch. The world needs it.

Quite the let down. Burger 6/10 at best, bun dry and crumbly, meat soso. Loaded hash browns looked weird and not very tasty.

Hero has a good selection of donuts, breakfast sandwiches, lunch and drinks. The service and food were both great. My wife highly recommends the loaded hash browns.
The coffee was decent but you’d be better off going down the street to Red Cat if you are only going for coffee.
The donuts were good but $4.50 for one donut is steep.
All together it was a good experience but prices and portions drop the rating from 5 stars to 4.

Hero Doughnuts is a cool spot right across from Railroad Park. I stopped in yesterday for a few doughnuts and they were absolutely delicious—the blueberry doughnut was one of the best I’ve ever had.
The service was a little slow, but the taste more than made up for it. I grabbed a couple and took them across the street to enjoy in the park—perfect balance of sweets and relaxation. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

Came to this spot after seeing it as we were on our way to Tay’s Tea.
I wanted to see what “handmade” doughnuts were…sure sure…I just wanted to check it out! Found that they had an egg and cheese sandwich in which the egg could be fried or folder. The fried egg was GREAT, the brioche was soft and delicious, and happy to have stopped in. We also tried one that had their fried chicken- great on the batter, chicken portion was generous, and overall juicy!

Right across from Railroad Park… sits this cute little donut shop. We ordered 4 donuts and shared them. We ordered a pistachio donut, a Strawberry donut, a donut with sprinkles and a maple sea salt donut. The maple donut was AMAZING! I also enjoyed the pistachio donut (a lot sweeter than I had anticipated). The pistachio donut was not salty as I had expected. Of course the strawberry glazed donut and donuts with sprinkles was good. Here’s a well known secret: they make EVERYTHING from scratch in house. The donuts are made with brioche dough too! I’m definitely returning. I want to try their lunch and breakfast menu (both are served all day). I was expecting just a donut shop and found much more!

I visited again! This time I learned that Hero changes out donuts on a regular basis! I tried lunch. Had the Turkey Avacado sandwich add pepper jack cheese. It was great! My friend had the loaded hashbrowns with fried chicken.

Had the Hot Chocolate Donut (marshmallows on top), Maple Bacon Donut and the Bread Pudding Donut (did not like… I didn’t prefer the aftertaste). Also had a Double Hero burger with hashbrowns (AMAZING) and the Turkey Avacado (AMAZING) W/ hashbrowns.

We had salted caramel donuts (prettt goood) and chicken sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich (Ami added avocado) the cracked pepper sauce and the jalapeño pepper jam was a delightful addition to this sandwich. I had a side of hash browns.

We’re BACK! The menu has changed quite a bit. But I have to say the Homewood (Donut with cream and strawberries) was really good! We also ordered the Super Crunch with avocado and a bacon, egg and cheese folded egg sandwich.

Finally, we found our Hero waiting for us to have coffee and wonderful donuts.
Walking up to the inside it was different and unique watching bread and donuts being made,ordering our meals, and sitting down till a staff member came up to use with a warm smile and handing out the food on antique metal plates. The only drawback was keeping the place wiped down and cleaning tables along with the bathrooms in need of cleaning.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at Hero! The Loaded Sausage Hashbrowns were perfect and savory, the Hero-ccino shake was rich and creamy, and the Peaches and Cream Donut was fresh and sweet. We loved the food so much that we ordered a Ube and Pistachio Donut to take home! Overall, Hero exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to return!
