Great place to grab some coffee & food before getting on the train. Heathy food options in addition to sweet treats like donuts and muffins.

If I was local, I’d absolutely choose this as my “go to” coffee spot.

Hometown is officially in Glenview, and it’s everything I hoped for! They serve up the same great food and truly excellent coffee as their other spots. The staff is always a great team—super friendly and helpful. A major shout-out for offering lots of gluten-free options! Welcome to the neighborhood!

I was so excited when Hometown opened in Glenview. I would travel to Winnetka to go out there for coffee and breakfast and when they announced they were coming to Glenview I was so happy! Their food selection is great and I love their baked goods too, so many choices. This is a great spot to come with your family or meet your friends here. The only tough part is that the parking lot is not great. They can’t help being so popular so the parking lot is full with people waiting to come in and any surrounding parking is for residents only for train parking.

Love that we have a new coffee shop in Glenview, in my opinion we need more spaces to hangout or get some work done. I have just a few notes tho, some of which might just be because the space is new and popular.

I’ve seen some other reviews mentioning that parking is challenging. I would certainly agree. I’ve wanted to try hometown for awhile, but every time I’ve come (late morning/early afternoon of a weekday (which I realize can be lunch time)) I have nearly gotten run over in the parking lot from agitated patrons.

My other note would be regarding just how loud the place is. Yes it was crowded, yet there were still open tables. It seemed like the sound of chatter echoes in the space. It might be helpful to add more carpets or cushions in the space to help absorb the sound and allow everyone to hear the person across from them.

I ordered a latte and the coffee is great! Not super sweet, but if you prefer it as such they have lots of syrups and sugar options. My food was okay, I ordered the anytime toast. Good, fresh ingredients, but it could have used some salt and pepper.

Overall, a good cafe! Many of the things that I mentioned I am sure will be worked out as they settle in to this new location.

I visited Hometown Cafe with my family and overall we had a pleasant experience. The food was very good — I ordered the berry bowl and it was amazing!

However, during our visit, we noticed that one of the bagels includes “russian dressing”.

Given the current global circumstances and the fact that a large Ukrainian community lives in this area, seeing this name on the menu felt quite inappropriate and uncomfortable. For many people, this is not just a neutral term anymore, but something closely associated with ongoing tragedy.

I would ask to consider renaming this item to a more neutral alternative. This small change would show respect toward the local community and current situation.

This Sunday was super busy, we almost left to try again another time, but they had put up a sign with the wait times for coffee and food, which was such a thoughtful and considerate touch. In the end, our food came in about half the estimated time, and we got our coffee right away.

Since it’s a brand-new spot, the crowds made total sense. We still found a seat immediately, and even though the place was packed, the noise level was totally manageable. Everyone seemed in great spirits, and you could feel how delighted the community is about this opening. It’s definitely a wonderful spot for families.

The iced coffee and avo lox toast were delicious. It’s a café, so I’m expecting quality ingredients without anything overly luxe, and that’s exactly what they delivered. Prices were fair, and the service was lovely.

We’re lucky to have Hometown in the suburbs, and I’m looking forward to the Northbrook location opening!

So did go there on a busy Sunday afternoon. But I have to say the set up for ordering your coffee and food definitely needs to be redesigned. Too many people trying to figure out what line is the oral line and what line is a pick up line. It was very confusing and very crowded. But the actual pastries and cake were fantastic, and the coffee was freshly brewed I’m sure it’s a lot better on a weekday when it’s not so crowded.

The coffee is very good and reasonably priced! But the parking situation is very bad. I understand it’s not completely their fault, but there have been times where I have wanted to grab a coffee and the parking was so bad that I ultimately left and went elsewhere because I was unable to find parking and didn’t have enough time to look for a spot or park further away and walk.

Hometown is the kind of coffee shop you go to when you want to sit down for a while, not the kind where you quickly grab something and go.
