Pros
The service and atmosphere were great
The food didn’t take long to get out at all which was great.
Friendly & courteous staff
Cons
The Food wasn’t seasoned, there were so so many opportunities to pair seasoning with the meats they used but unfortunately they smoked them as is and didn’t really season the meats. Some of our food was also under cooked.
Lack of options, if you’re like me and like to have a variety of options when it comes to food I wouldn’t recommend this as your place, they don’t have a lot of options to choose from whether it be sides or entrees.
Prices- now I’m aware as a cook that meat of all things is expensive but 20-30$ per person isn’t reasonable for a small town destination and with the lack of options and flavoring prices should be adjusted accordingly because 4 measley ribs for 20+ some odd dollars is a bit much.

So glad this restaurant finally opened and it did not let me down! The service was amazing, we were sat right away, got drinks in under a minute and our order was taken within 5 minutes of us looking at the menu. Two servers were working tonight and both were stellar. Our main waiter made sure our drinks never ran out and he check on us multiple times. I ordered the brisket, potato salad, apple pie baked beans, corn bread and slaw. My fiancée ordered the same plus sausage and tots. All were fantastic. The brisket was amazing, thick, and you could tell it was made that day. I wanted to order the corn which they were out of (didn’t bother me because it’s a new restaurant and things typically sell out daily at bbq restaurants). The house bbq sauce was also fantastic.
As someone who loves BBQ, this was much better than the broken smoker. Each time I go to the broken smoker (while the food is decent), I feel like it has been sitting for a bit or is dry, and they make items like corn break in bulk and just heat it up days later. This was not the case at Somebody slap me that’s good bbq.
In terms of any poor reviews, I would argue all of them. This is a brand new restaurant and of course there will be some kinks to work out. For good bbq the price was ABSOLUTELY worth it (also I don’t feel like for all the food you get it is overpriced at all). I greatly hope this restaurant is here to stay and we will definitely be back!

First time being here, they cooked the meat perfectly, juicy, not underdone, not over done. The char goes great on anything they made for us, brisket, which was tender, chicken, which was flavorful, and the pulled pork. Their barbecue sauce has deep, sweet pierce to it that’s lovely with their pulled pork. Good meats. The salads were perfect too, very fresh, great with their ranch. It was very yummy. I would suggest coming here and trying their particular style for yourself. Their apple baked beans were an interesting twist on a sweet and savory baked bean. Kudos.

My wife and I went for our first time on Thursday, March 21st. It was pretty slow when we got there, but it was also in between lunch and dinner time, so that’s understandable, but still brought down the atmosphere a bit. The place was clean and comfortable, however.
The service was friendly and quick, and there was very little wait for any of the items we ordered. Everything tasted fine, and the apple pie beans were an unusual but enjoyable departure from your run of the mill baked beans. I would just say that maybe one or two more BBQ sauces and sides would be a nice addition to already tasty food, which is my reason for a slight reduction. I would also suggest wet wipes or something similar to be available.
As we were leaving (while very full), we bunped into Angel, one of the owners, and spoke to her for a few minutes. She was very kind and pleasant to talk to. We will certainly be returning in the near future!

Pork and chicken quarter was hardly flavorful. The one and only barbecue sauce was nothing special. Corn was rubbery and over cooked, potato salad tasted like store bought, corn muffin dry and cold, toast was cold, fries cold, beans were warm and tasted better than they looked. The best thing out of 2 meals was the tater tots. Server was not serving and the place was practically empty.

I ordered the pulled pork and Ribs and they were both amazing! I also loved the Coleslaw, which I am usually particular about. The ribs were very tender and your BBQ sauce was great. I cannot wait to see what other flavors you will bring.

The waitress was nice, she did seem new but she did a great job. The food on the other hand was HORRIBLE! (Horrible being an understatement) The corn bread was dry, gritty and cold. The meat was not seasoned AT ALL and was so dry the bbq sauce didnt even do it justice. All the sides seemed to have been pre made and were cold as ice. Fries tasted old and the only thing that was warm was the beans. We got our salads and before we even got to our second bite they brought our food out, further proving that nothing was fresh. The corn on the cob was way over cooked and flavorless and mushy. Would definitely avoid this place at all costs!

Pretty bad when your side salad and tator tats where the best part of your meal. Ordered the 3 meat combo. They where out of brisket. The chicken leg quarter was inedible. How do you screw up bbq chicken.Pulled pork was good Ribs ok but everything was cold. You could tell it’s all just rewarmed not fresh food. Will not be back.

Long wait time, 5 other tables needed food when we sat down, the kitchen was out of a lot of the menu and way behind. When we got our food, it was barely warm, and the fries were undercooked. The communication between the kitchen and waitresses was poor. Waitresses were friendly and doing what they could. Basically, the same atmosphere with bunkers’ stuff is still up. Everyone is wearing coats because it was cold. I suggest going before 5.

Great BBQ in Hastings, Michigan. I ordered to go but hung out inside while waiting on food. The atmosphere was on par with this type of restaurant. The portions were significantly more than I expected. Definitely a place to go if BBQ is your thing.
