Quiet, low-key place in the Railyard area. Great food, huge portions, and well priced with friendly and fast service! We got the bibimbap bowl, Hatch dip, and smothered tater tots – all were delicious. We’re so happy we stumbled upon Capital Coal for dinner after another spot quoted us an hour wait!

Delicious food! Decently priced and fresh. Laid-back atmosphere and friendly people. We played checkers while we waited for our food (I won)

This was my first time at Capital Coal and I am already looking forward to returning! Johnny was so very pleasant at the counter. The arugula salad with tofu was delicious! So was the chocolate cake. New are dishes from Zia Diner such as meat loaf and turkey pot pie (I brought one home for dinner). Having such varied menu items and flavor choices is fantastic for a foodie like me!

Our 1st time. Good food and service. A cute micro food hall.
We had the Frito Pie, Bibimbap with Korean Beef, Chicken Tender on a Texas toast, and Tater Tots with bacon and green chile.

A+++ One of our favorites in Santa Fe! The food is delicious and prepared fresh, with care, and it’s affordable! The staff is always friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxing and always plays my favorite flavor of music. This is a GEM, hidden in plain sight. I can’t understand why other popular restaurants in this area aren’t bleeding patrons to Capital Coal. It’s awesome!! Just go.

The food isn’t bad. It’s also not that good. The French dip (hatch version) was pretty unremarkable. The beef was tender and not very flavorful and the dipping juice was a bit like boxed beef broth. A $17 Caesar? Nice romaine but the dressing was so-so, nothing special. If $6; maybe but simply not worth the price. My wife had the Bibimbap Bowl with pork belly; a little more successful but nothing we would rush to try again. It’s all decent and over priced.

A really cool place with a variety of options to w
Eat. Really cool art on the wall. The atmosphere was really nice. The food had a lot of unique toppings so if you are not adventurous you may be asking to skip a lot of things.

Let’s get the rant out of the way about Santa Fe’s restaurants: prices have gotten really expensive, food quality and portions have gone down, and the service is still bad. Take Capital Coal for example, good concept poor execution. Five different menus coming out of the same kitchen, branded as unique and different flavor profiles with special sauce combos. Cool idea except when you only have one cook, one food prep, and one cashier doubling as server and drink distributor. Problematic when it’s lunch hour and the line is nearly out the door. Pricing is expensive for spiced up comfort food. Seriously, $15 for chicken tenders laying on a piece of overly salty Texas toast smothered in pickles? I’m out. I’m out on slow service, so-so food, and outrageous prices. Santa Fe, you’re making it hard.

This place is awesome! Diverse food and tasty food. Recently tried the lobster roll special and best lobster roll I’ve had in SF (Sorry Rowleys)I am local and native to SF; sorry Chomped (other food hall) this will be my new spot. I loved the POKE from the chef Dakota at Chomped so I naturally followed her to this new spot. Highly recommend. (Good beer selection too and awesome outdoor area) can’t wait for her new Japanese/French place to open.

I really like this place and definitely wanna go back
The layout is super cool, with a nice casual seating area in the middle and then booths and other dining seats around it
The bibimbap with the gochujang pork belly was the stand out, and then the hot chicken and the lil treat we got were pretty good too!
