Our server, Alex, was phenomenal. She served us so effortlessly and with such genuine warmth. It’s my birthday, and I was having a hard time keeping my emotions intact, but her presence and service truly made a difference.
The food was wonderful, and the overall experience was amazing. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you, Flavor Hills and Alex, for making my day special!

I was so excited to see that Flavor Hills made it to Durham. I visited for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a great experience. The hostess, bar tender, and server Jasmine were all very polite and provided overall great service. I got the Luxe Bayou Catfish plate and my food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I asked Jasmine for dessert recommendations and she suggested the banana fosters cake which was delicious as well; I ate on it for 3 days lol. I can’t wait until my next visit!

Disappointed Birthday Experience at Flavor Hills – Durham
On December 5th, my family (Darnell, Pat & Rod) took me out to celebrate my 61st birthday at Flavor Hills in Durham. We had a 7 PM reservation and were warmly greeted upon arrival. After a short wait at the bar, we were seated and welcomed by our amazing server, Jasmine, who ensured our cocktails and appetizers were timely and perfect. Throughout the evening, Jasmine, Ashley (management), and Chris checked in on us regularly.
Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful celebration turned sour. We waited over an hour and a half for our main entrees. Despite Jasmine and Ashley repeatedly checking with the kitchen, we later learned that the owners and their guests—who arrived after us—had their meals expedited ahead of paying patrons. This was extremely disappointing, especially on such a special occasion.
While Jasmine and Ashley apologized profusely (and the delay was not their fault), the experience left a bitter taste. Owners should prioritize engaging with guests and ensuring fairness, not “flossing like a boss” while others wait. For a newly opened establishment, this was not the impression we hoped for.
I truly hope Flavor Hills|Durham takes this feedback to heart and implements changes to ensure all guests feel valued and treated equitably.

Lovely atmosphere, amazing art, welcoming staff, comfortable seating, and fantastic food with a flair! We tried three appetizers, and I can’t wait to go back and try more.
The crab and collard dip had me wondering where that combo has been all my life. The Fried Devil Eggs still have me trying to figure out what kind of magic happened in the kitchen, and the surprise kick from the silky coconut jerk sauce on the Short Rib Meatball had my taste buds tingling with joy. Yum!

What an amazing food experience! Every item on the menu sounds fantastic. I like that the menu is relatively small, 2 pages, and not overwhelming with too many choices. We had the crab fries, shrimp and grits, and rattlesnake pasta with shrimp. We also had the red velvet creme brule for dessert. Each bite was full of flavor. The blend of spicy cajun and sweet corn with the grits was unexpected and wonderfully paired. The staff is attentive and kind. They give great suggestions with plenty of information. Bo, the front house manager at our visit, was friendly and helpful all around. The staff clearly work well together and create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We will absolutely return!

y’all this was bussin’. shoutout to my super awesome waitress Sahara! she was so lovely. The food was immaculate. Vibes are perfection. I love all the art hanging on the walls. It’s a bit pricey (I spent about $60 for my appetizer, main course, dessert and tip) but tbh I think it’s completely worth it, especially because it’s Black owned. I’ll def be back!!

What a gem! I walked by Flavor Hills in downtown Durham looking for lunch before my flight home from a work trip. When I poked my head inside, staff warmly greeted me and welcomed me in. I was immediately allured by the many paintings hanging on the wall walls throughout the restaurant and mural all behind the bar. I was surprised to learn they had opened a couple months ago because of how beautiful and developed the decor and artwork are. (It’s truly a gallery in addition to a restaurant!) I ordered a craft local beer and the Southern comfort plate, which included a biscuit, delicious fried chicken, mouth watering collard greens, topped with a fried egg and gravy from the brunch menu, (which goes till 3 PMeven on weekdays!!! ). My server, Raja, was lovely to chat with. I felt at home. The entire experience was a treat! I’ll be back next time I’m in town!

This is my second time being at Flavor Hills, but my first time eating here. I wanted to come try this restaurant for my birthday dinner, and I was not disappointed. Our waitress’ name was Rashida (sorry if I misspelled), and she provided amazing service along with the amazing food! I order one of their signature dishes, Sweet Heat Plate, which I give a 10/10! Their drink, Blacker The Berry was delicious as well (I ordered 2). Needless to say I enjoyed my experience and the food, and I’ll definitely be back soon!

Outrageous! My wife and I stopped in on a recommendation and this WILL be a staple for us. Jaz took great care of us (even giving us a complimentary order of beignets). The atmosphere is fresh. Great art, good music, and positivity abound. I had the out of sight shrimp and grits. My wife tried crawfish for the first time with the catfish and even shared it with me (it was that good). Mac and cheese is banging, as well. Besides the beignets, we had the red velvet crème brûlée which was a hit as well.
