I used to really like The Pizza Pie as it was the closest thing I could find in town to “real” pizza. I heard the location is under new ownership from our neighborhood facebook group. I wanted to try it again to see if the quality was still solid. Several people in the group commented how new ownership had raised prices to ridiculous levels, but I certainly wasn’t prepared for just how much.
I ordered a large white pizza and added mushrooms, spinach, and garlic to half of it. The total came to $40.00. And this wasn’t for delivery so there was no delivery fees and ordered directly from the location. When you place an order there is even a thank you that says “thanks for ordering directly from us. Other services charge an additional 30%, and this allows us to keep our prices reasonable.” Lol at “reasonable.”
When a restaurant charges $3.55 EACH to add spinach, mushrooms, and garlic to a whole pie you expect a decent amount ($1.76 to a half pie). What I got was a pizza pretty lacking in mushrooms. It’s also crazy that the $3.55 price for a topping is the same whether you want sausage or banana peppers.
As far as the food quality, it’s pretty tasty. But at a price point of $40.00, it should blow me away and it just didn’t.

I was seriously impressed with the pizza at The Pizza Pie. The flavor was excellent and the crust was outstanding. It reminded me of the kind of old-school pizza joints you’d find in the NY/NJ area.
You can tell the people there really take pride in what they make, and it shows in the quality of the pizza. Definitely a place worth stopping in if you appreciate a really good, classic slice.

Stepping into The Pizza Pie, my ears were greeted by voices speaking in Italian. I took this as a good sign, and I was right. Their Margherita pizza was delicious! You can taste the sweetness of the tomatoes in the sauce, unlike most pizza sauces that overwhelm it with salt. If they don’t make the sauce in house, I would be surprised. The crust was bubbly and crisp, and a definite highlight, not a throw away like many other pizzas. All in all a very tasty pie, and friendly customer service!

We had the opportunity to try several items on our visit to this location. The appetizer was soo good with items you usually don’t see like artichoke hearts and panecetta. The chicken parmesan was a very good portion and their sauce paired perfectly with it. Pizza dough and sauce was just as accomodating and I would definitely order on a regular basis. This restaurant is out to please and are energetic and resourceful on offering smaller tidbits like the amazing garlic knots and dessert. So east to just add it to your order. Overall, this is the place for a fabulous take out and to enjoy excellent food.

Nunzio and his family are the kindest (and best pizza makers) in Florida!! We‘ve tried nearly every pizza place in Tampa and nothing compares to the pizza pie. The pepperoni rolls are to die for and the dipping sauce is incredible. They were so kind too and chatted with us while we ate. 10/10 recommend!

The sauce was very tangy and zesty, and I could taste the basil in it perfectly. The crust was cooked just the way I like it. A dark golden brown, but not too well done nice and crispy very good. The cheese was a little too much. I felt like if it was a little less cheese, it would’ve been a 7.7 easy. And yes you can put too much cheese on a pie. Overall, the pizza was very good My return to this location is very likey.

I am very disappointed with my recent experience. I called and specifically requested the Tuesday special when placing my order. If the special had ended, I should have been clearly informed during the call. Instead, I was charged more at pickup with no prior notice. When I questioned this, the owner stated he “doesn’t have time to tell each caller.” This is unacceptable. Customers deserve clear communication and transparent pricing before arriving to pick up their order. This experience reflects poorly on your business practices.

Hands down the best NJ style pizza in the area. However, they don’t know how to make a Sicilian pizza. It’s basically just a normal pizza but in a rectangle pan. Way too much cheese, soggy bottom and no crispy, buttery side. 2 out of 10. Ate one slice and threw the rest away. Live and learn. Stick with their round NY/NJ style.

We ordered pick up . Pizza and wings were amazing. Fresh veggies, tasty, not overwhelming sausage. And, the best part, the wings were the closest thing to true Buffalo Wings since I left New York!
