My family and i stumbled upon this place when the line for the Miners restaurant was crazy and chaotic. We had a really good experience with my family of six when I went a week ago. The service was fast, and friendly. Everyone in my family enjoyed their food. I got the chicken pot pie and it was delicious and the prefect size. The sweet tea was really good, sweet, but not overly sweet. The little gift shop is cute to. Highly recommend checking it out.

We stopped for lunch when we saw they allowed dogs on the patio. It was the 3rd time we’ve ever taken our dogs to a restaurant but we were on vacation in Borrego Springs where it was 100 degrees so we went up to Julian to get out of the heat, this review is more about Heidi who was a fantastic, over the top, waitress. She checked on us regularly, split our meal as requested and even gave us extra fries. She was an absolute doll. When we were getting ready to get our bill she asked if I wanted another iced tea and it was so good I said yes. She came out with the bill and two to go cups and after having pretty horrible service at another restaurant I was amazed at her thoughtfulness. The food was very good and our dogs were so good and comfortable on the patio! Thank you, HEIDI

We arrive around 1:30PM on a Saturday and waited for ~15min to be seated.
We ordered 2 bison burgers, country side steak and brisket. It took more than 45 minutes to get the food. We were starving!!!
Burgers were good, fries undercooked. The brisket was chewy. The fried steak was OK.
The server was nice, the atmosphere too, but not worth the wait and price.

Originally, I wanted pizza, but I’m glad I stumbled upon this place. The service here is very friendly and down-to-earth, which is really helpful since I don’t get a chance to relax and eat much. The staff is very attentive, and the food was delicious; it felt homemade, especially my skillet. My wife had the chicken pot pie, and since the pastry is made there, everything tasted fresh. I wanted to show my appreciation for the restaurant by letting everyone know with my simple review.

Great that they serve breakfast all day, but the quality was disappointing. My hash browns were a frozen grocery store patty, and the biscuits were thin and processed. My friend’s ‘Cowboy Skillet’ was almost entirely potatoes with very little meat. On the bright side, the bacon and eggs were fine, but overall, it felt more like a quick-service assembly than a home-cooked meal.

I had high hopes. Smelled good. Looked good. But – The place was cramped. Chaotic check in and seating. Slow waiting service. Slow food service. Took more than 30 minutes. With kids, no way, move along. Food also came out in 3 different waves, so we all kind of ate everything separately. Chicken fried steak was decent. Sausage gravy was weird like the sausage was from a frozen pizza. Scrambled Eggs were powdered eggs (or they were just disgusting). Cute place, just needs some attention to the service.

The pot pie was delicious! While it isn’t the prettiest presentation, it has so much flavor! The crust was flaky and they use a brown gravy inside. There were a variety of vegetables and chunks of chicken.
The salad was cold, crisp and fresh when served. The ranch dressing was tasted like it may be homemade.
All entrees ordered were hearty portion sizes and very filling.
The cold cider was my favorite in all of Julian that we tried.
The server was friendly and kept our drinks filled.

Food was absolutely awful. Honestly tasted like watered down week old food they reheated and added salt to flavor. Restaurants like this should not be in business — taking advantage of first time visitors who are unaware and do not research local restaurants assuming they are good.
