It was okay. The good was excellent the cleanliness was very questionable. It took awhile to get the food. The salt and pepper shakes on the table were pretty gross, they didn’t have enough staff to wipe tables between guests. The most eyebrow raising thing was the staff wearing gloves and not changing them between food prep and cash handling. The food was excellent so idk.

During lunch it was quite busy but there were a few open tables. Their sandwiches come toasted fresh from the oven and are flavorful, but they skimp on the deli meat. For $10+ a sandwich, it seemed a little expensive.

The smell of fresh bread lets you know your appetite is in good hands here. Pride in their product shows from start to finish. If you have any questions, the helpful counter people cheerfully answer them and make spot on recommendations. You can’t go wrong with their signature sandwich and a bag of chips or slaw, if you prefer.
They do a booming take away business, and it’s interesting to watch all the people come and go. Be a little patient; your freshly make sandwich will come and it will be worth the wait. All the locals go here.

Schmaltz’s has delicious sandwiches that are not too filling and come on warm, crunchy buns. We enjoyed both the turkey and the cheese sandwich.
Despite a lunchtime line the orders moved fairly quickly and there always seemed to be a table open. The shop is in the middle of downtown and I’m ready walking distance of desert or coffee afterwards.

This is such a cool, friendly sandwich place – just a couple of blocks from the Dr Pepper Museum.
The perfect place for a filling lunch after visiting the museum.
Their namesake sandwich – the Schmaltz sandwich – sounds absolutely delicious but I didn’t try it (not a ham eater).
Instead I had their veggie sandwich on the jalapeño cheese bread. Really good!
Others on my table had the chef’s salad and other sandwiches – all were delicious
And the folks behind the counter are friendly and patient if you have any questions.
Make this a “must visit” place on your next trip to Waco.

These guys are the best! They’ve been around forever and the food is always A+ consistent. I always get the chef salad with double meat, but the regular chef salad still has plenty. They packed my to-go bowl so full that I turned it upside down on a plate to break it up. When I did this, it turned into this upside-down salad cake thing that I thought was hilarious! It was absolutely delicious as usual. I thought the employees would get a kick out of this so I’m including a pic of the “cake”. P.S. Please refer to the actual pictures of their salads on other reviews before you judge their product. They are beautiful.

A neat old school sandwich shop. It gets busy, but the food comes out quickly. I had the roast beef. It was good. The bread was interesting. Apparently, it’s all made on site and reminded me a little of sourdough.

Ever since I moved here people have been telling time, “you have to go to schmaltz and get a schmaltz sandwich!!” So today I went and it was incredible. I’m personally not a big sandwich guy, but this was incredibly delicious and surprisingly very filling! And the bread they use is out of this world yummy especially with the garlic butter. Idk if its homemade or not but my gosh it was good! The potato salad is also good and they make their own tea!! It’s cheap and it’s located downtown so it doesn’t get much better and they have their own small parking lot! Definitely go give this place a chance in your lunch rotation!!

Never been here before. Decided to give it a try since my friend is a regular there. The place is ok nice well put together. Older sandwich place you can tell they have been there a while.. The tuna sandwich I had was great could of had more tuna in it less lettuce. My tina was just a spreed of Tuna for $8.50 plus tax I expected more tuna not all that lettuce, but the wheat bread was deliciously made. The parking is HORRIBLE. Little to NO parking at this place. Other than the parking & just getting a spreed of Tuna I would of gave them a 5 ..

Loved this local sandwich shop with some history! Sandwiches were delish, served warm with homemade bread, garlic butter, and melted cheese. A must try!
