I usually cook my own BBQ at home but decided to try Mack’s Char Shack out because I was craving ribs so bad, and boy was that a great choice! Not only were their ribs succulent and perfectly smokey, but they were also way better than my home smoked ribs! So excited to have found such an excellent new place to frequent for the ever elusive, actually good, BBQ in the wild! Plus, the owner is a really nice dude! Highly recommend!

Having lived in the south west we were blessed to eat some amazing barbecue. In Alaska not so much Until Mack’s char shack Filled the void! I swear to you I dream of his amazing brisket and pulled pork! This guy knows how to cook meat. We always get a pound of our favorites and pick up some yummy rolls at the bakery and make our own sandwiches. Make sure you get a couple of his barbecue sausage to try, we love his blueberry one it is amazing! When he does have sides try the mac & cheese! Needless to say we’re big fans.

Holy smokes- just had the best brisket in my life. Visiting Alaska and stopped by after reading the other reviews and WOWWWW the delicious bbq melts in your mouth. The owner was super nice! We are trying to figure out how we can stop by again during our 9 day road trip… that’s how great it is! Just landed in Anchorage from NC and didn’t expect to get BBQ while on vacation here — but dang, so glad we stopped!

Half rack of ribs and Carolina styled pulled pork sandwich.
The ribs were overcooked. Very mushy to say the least. Fall off the bone ribs are a sign that they are over cooked. However I understand that some people like that.
The sandwich would have been good if I were able to make the sandwich myself. By the time I got back to my location (5 minute drive) the bread was soggy and was not able to enjoy.
You get a lot of pulled pork for the price I will admit and for a half rack they were meaty.

This is gourmet BBQ!!!! We have traveled America and Canada and this is the BEST we’ve found!! Guy Fierie, you need to visit this place!
We had the sampler, which we shared & still had plenty of leftovers. All the meats were moist & flavorful. Pulled pork can get dry but not this! We had the sweet berry sauce as well as the spicey. Amazingly flavorful & not too sweet or spicy. We also had the piggy poppers which were very good & the beans which were excellent!
This guy knows his stuff!!! When in Wasilla you must visit if you like BBQ & don’t be put off by the fact he works from a food truck along the side of the road! You will not be disappointed!❤❤

We ordered a couple of brisket sandwiches and a couple orders of macaroni and cheese. We enjoyed everything and probably could have split one order of each between the two of us, because they load you up nicely. You’re gonna pay nicely as well, but perfectly fine when you get plenty of good food.

Had a pulled pork sandwich, was only 7$! Great deal, Amazing home-made food. Sandwich was Huge and the bun was so yummy. The owner was extremely nice, fast service, and they offer a 10% discount for military and first responders! Hours are I do believe Wed-Fri 11am-7pm.

Best BBQ in Alaska! Being from Southern Virginia I’ve had A LOT of Carolina style bbq and let me tell ya’ll something…The Mack Shack nailed it! No BBQ in Alaska has compared to Mack’s! Don’t forget about the fixins’ ya’ll..because I’m ALL ABOUT the fixins’!!! Corn Fritters, ranch beans and bbq slaw…A little slice of Southern Hospitality and mama’s down home cooking right here in Alaska!

Hands down best BBQ around! Being from NC I was raised on Carolina pulled pork and until now I’ve never been able to find anything close unless I smoked it myself. But Ron nailed it, there’s no where else in Alaska that can come close.
