I absolutely love Langano Ethiopian Restaurant. The food is flavorful, fresh, and consistently satisfying. My son is obsessed with the fish fir fir — it’s seasoned perfectly and full of bold Ethiopian flavor without being overwhelming. It’s become his go-to every time we visit.
As for me, the fried fish with rice and salad? Chef’s kiss. The fish is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and pairs beautifully with the rice and fresh salad. Everything tastes homemade and made with care.
The portions are generous, the atmosphere feels welcoming, and the food always hits the spot. If you’re in Silver Spring and craving authentic Ethiopian cuisine, this place is definitely worth the visit.
We’ll absolutely keep coming back.

I placed a to-go order over the phone, and everything seemed fine at first. However, when I arrived at the restaurant, the situation became very strange and uncomfortable.
The server began complaining to me about the cost of to-go containers, saying they lose money on them and that the chef refused to put my order in a proper takeout container. I wasn’t sure what she expected me to say, but I told her I was willing to pay whatever the container cost.
Instead, she brought out the wrong order in an inappropriate container — one that shouldn’t even be used for hot food. When I politely pointed out that it was the wrong order and asked for the correct container, the situation escalated very quickly.
The server became aggressive and physically attacked me inside the restaurant. I felt unsafe and had to call the police before I was able to leave.
When the owner eventually appeared, he did not acknowledge or speak with us and went straight into the kitchen. When I tried to follow up, he refused to talk. His demeanor came across as unprofessional, and he appeared to be under the influence, which made the situation even more concerning.
Between the incorrect order, the confrontation over basic takeout packaging, and the physical incident, this was an extremely disturbing experience. I will be filing a formal complaint with the appropriate authorities. Sharing this so others are aware — I would strongly advise avoiding this place

Great experience. I loved the way they served the beef tibs. They were served on a small fancy stove to keep it warm throughout the dinner.
Spacious enough for a big party or just for a duo. Family friendly. You can choose to sit outside if you prefer.
Parking could be hard to find on the Georgia Ave. Ride-share or use public transport if you can.

Years ago this place was good! Now they have become a SCAM!!! On several occasions, I had ordered pick up on uber and they didn’t have what I ordered. When I go to pick up they tell me they don’t have what I ordered. “Sorry can we give you something else” but I don’t want something else!!! So I ended up losing the money I paid for!!! Please don’t go here they are scamming people!!! Embarrassment for the Ethiopian community!!!!

Friendly staff and great food. The Ethiopian coffee was excellent. I didn’t take a picture of the coffee service but it’s definitely a must have. The coffee arrives in an attractive pot with two cups and burning incense. The effect is visual as well as olfactory. The waitress poured what seemed to be a lot of sugar in the cup prior to pouring in the coffee but it was perfect. The coffee was strong but very flavorful. Whatever is done to roast the beans and prep the coffee resulted in me pouring multiple cups!

The vegi platter is our go to in my family (meat eaters and vegans) I personally am not a big fan of the beets but everything else is good or better They use to have vegetable sambusas but the last couple times I’ve gone, they haven’t been available which is disappointing. The service can be slow but overall, I love the food they do have, when I’m there.

A waitress named SISAY has such a bad temper,I spend a lot in that restaurant ordering on uber eats almost 3-5 times a week,she had such a bad attitude eventoogh I love the food,I can’t stand this woman,she purposely makes me wait ,all because I wasn’t able to tip her for a beer I ordered while waiting on my food,she tends to ignore me while making me wait for the food,I’m done ordering from here, just because of her,the owner can look up how much I spend on this restaurant,thanks for the food,but you need to train your employees to have proper manners, Uber eats users are customers too even if they can’t tip

You can find hair in your food one time, which is not okay, but u be mad, you will take it out of your system, and move on, but how is it possible to find 3 in one food 3 how bad can this place be?
