Best Chinese food chicken wings I’ve had in a long time. They tasted exactly how they used to taste in the 90s. Super crispy and a ton of flavor. Pork fried rice was decent, egg roll was decent, teriyaki chicken on a stick was decent but I’ll keep coming back just for the wings.

We have been coming to this restaurant since the pandemic in 2020 due to the cleanliness and food. Spending at least $200 a month with them. We noticed changes in staff and in taste of some of the foods like the spare ribs with bone, wonton soup, fried rice and chicken wings. But we kept going due to my son loving the sesame chicken, we order it mild and the chicken soft, we go so much as soon as I order the sesame chicken the one lady left who has been there since we have been going, knows it is me.
The other day I called and placed our usual order, once I get there I see my order packed and noticed something I didn’t order so when I asked she said your chicken fingers I politely said no I ordered my husband’s usual crab ragoon. Instead of saying sorry for mix up she proceeded to upset and speak in her native tongues. So I told them leave it on the order I paid for already which was close to $80 and just add the crab ragoon. While waiting for correction I went to tell my husband the delay. I asked him did I mess up and say chicken finger? He said no, if would had corrected you before you hung up when placing order. When I got back into the restaurant there was a gentleman in there the whole time that said to me she didn’t have to say the things she said in her native tongue due to her mistake.
I will not go back again and will not refer anyone to them again! All the years we have gone to this restaurant and never caused any issues and paid them with no problems, I see this does not matter to them so we will spend our money somewhere or learn to make ourselves!

The food is prepared quickly and is good, above standard, Chinese food. The only problem is that they do not devein the shrimp. We order fried shrimp and after biting on the first one I felt the grittiness and the muddy flavor of the shrimp vein. For those that do not know, the vein, is not vein at all: it is part of the shrimp’s digestive system. It contains all the undigested food matter and digested waste, also known as poop.
I proceed to check the other 14 shrimp, some of which have been partially eaten by my children. They were all the same.
The pork fried rice was very dry.
It was disappointing and made our dinner much less enjoyable.

We do take out orders here! When we on the role and some of the food today was not good. This is the second time I ordered chicken wings and they gave me re-fried wings dark meat it looks bad. The pork fried rice was plain and dry! The crab Rangoon were re-fried as well, definitely old, the stuffing were sour ! Yikes!!! I will never eat there again.

So look, there are Chinese restaurants in this country and there are American Chinese restaurants. The cuisines are not the same. Really, what most Americans think of as “Chinese food” is American Chinese food and let’s just agree that Chinese American food is DELICIOUS. Sing Hee Restaurant in North Haven, CT is solidly Chinese American. They are also a strictly take out spot and they crank out the food here. The menu is EXTENSIVE. Anything you’re thinking you might want in the American Chinese cuisine they probably have at Sing Hee. Plenty of options for the meat eaters and the non eaters. All the choices are here. For Vegan you would have to ask since you know, sauces are the backbone of American Chinese food. You need delicious sauces and fresh ingredients. Sing Hee has both those things.

On the menu there the choice of pint or quart sized portions. Being me I thought a pint was just way to small a portion and I ordered quarts of everything for me and my parents. DON’T LISTEN TO ME. I mean unless you want to have plenty of leftovers. Because we did have plenty of leftovers, which I did eat, cold, directly out of the fridge the next day and I’m here to say that Sing Hee’s food was just as delicious the next day and cold.

Here’s what I did: I was driving down from Vermont to my parents in Branford. I pulled off 91 to look at Sing Hee’s menu and call in my order: Shrimp Egg Rolls, Pork Egg Rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp with Chinese Vegetables, Vegetable Lo Mein. Pro Tip: when you order over $35 worth of food you get to add an item (there’s a list to choose from). I added a pint of Pork Fried Rice for Dad, since I don’t eat pork, but he is a SUPER FAN of Pork Fried Rice.

Let’s review: 3 people and I ordered quarts of Vegetable Lo Mein, Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp with Chinese Vegetables, plus 2 shrimp egg rolls, 2 pork egg rolls and the pint of Pork Fried Rice. A stupid quantity of food. For a seriously, reasonable price.

Honestly, I hadn’t had a shrimp egg roll in years. Legit years. Because I live in Vermont and, somehow, for some bizarre reason, Vermont is an American Chinese Food desert. Well….we do have it, but it’s mainly not good. I have to drive an hour for good American Chinese and I have! The Shrimp Egg Rolls from Sing Hee were basically, screaming hot when I picked them up and I ate them both on the drive to my parents’ house. They were everything a Shrimp Egg Roll should be: crispy on the outside, hot and flavorful with fully cooked, shredded filling. Would consider picking up some Shrimp Egg Rolls every time I’m driving past on 91…

When I got to Sing Hee (I was using Google Maps and I had looked at pics online) I 100% would have driven right past the entrance if I didn’t see the little signs for Sing Hee in the ground beside the entrance. Tricky thing is Sing Hee is located behind a deserted/empty/abandoned CVS or Walgreens or something like that. I got it in my head that Sing Hee was INSIDE that shell of a Walgreens and that maybe I was supposed to pull up to the former Pharmacy drive up to get my food…??? HAHAHAHAHAHA

Which, frankly, would be an AMAZING approach to Chinese take out!

No, Sing Hee is not inside an abandoned CVS. It’s behind the abandoned CVS. No drive thru. You park and go in. Once you’re in there you can see the entire kitchen, everything, nothing is hidden. Let’s all get on the same page about the fact that this is a level of transparency that is not “usual” in the restaurant business. Come on, you know that the vast majority of restaurants hide their kitchens out back behind multiple doors. And you just have to rely on faith when you eat there. Not at Sing Hee, they are preparing everyone’s food right where everyone can see it. I love that.

The place runs like a well oiled machine. I had to wait a few minutes for my order to be ready. Then I put it in my trunk, drove to Branford and that food was still so hot we needed to let it cool a few minutes. Everything was really good. Shrimp with Chinese Vegetables had a crazy number of shrimp. Lo Mein was particularly delicious.

Not as good as it was before I left Medtronic a few years ago. Definitely changed hands.
Wonton soup has no flavor and chicken garlic sauce was more spicy hot than before.
Decent but dropped a notch in my opinion.

Been going here since a child, To me the cleanest Chinese place I’ve ever been to. Pick up only, I live across town and never mind taking the drive to pick up the food. My favorite is the boneless spare ribs and steamed dumplings. Honestly anything you get from them is great. I am biased but with good reason…they get 5 stars because they are that good ! When I think of Chinese food I think of Sing Hee!

Sing Hee changed their pork fried rice. It’s awful no taste and no pork in it. The beef from the lo mein tasted bad. I took one bite and had to spit it out. Very disappointed I have been cominng here for a very long time. The egg roll was good.

Out of hundreds of reviews I’ve done, this is the first time I had to throw the food away. The pork was so dry I couldn’t even chew it. Whoever cooked it shouldn’t be allowed in a kitchen.
I will never eat there again, and HIGHLY recommend you don’t either. I’d give negative stars if it was a possibility. Absolutely disgusting.

Food has changed alot… last month place was good had boneless ribs and appetizers.
This month it was anything but good.I ordered general tso chicken and appetizers …the dumplings were salty and had a mushy (as opposed to soft) texture… and the “chicken” tasted off and honestly doesn’t look like chicken. Ended up having some tummy issues as well… won’t be back
