The Best Sushi in Carmel Valley!
Every time I come here, it’s simply the best. I’ve tried other places, but I always find myself coming back, realizing that this is where the most delicious sushi is served. The presentation is amazing, and the flavors are unmatched.
Thank you for your excellent service and hard work!

We have been enjoying Katana sushi for the 3+ years that we’ve lived in Carmel Valley. It is an amazing go to for a great meal when we have company in town or just want to enjoy a date or family night out. The food is always expertly prepared, the prices are great and the staff are courteous and quick. In our opinion it is the best sushi in the Carmel Valley area.

Went to Katana on a Sunday evening at 5:45PM. No problem parking. We were seated within 5 mins. The restaurant looks about 80% full. They have good business on a Sunday evening.

Service: 2 stars. We ordered our dinner and got our drinks within reasonable time. Strangely, the waitress thought that we can’t finish what we ordered. Our food took quite some time to arrive at the table. The table behind us came later but got their food 15 minutes earlier than us. The waitress never bother to come back to our table to 1)refill hot water for the hot tea nor water glasses; 2)check on us if we wanted to order more. We actually haven’t eaten much all day and wanted to order more.

Food: 3.5 stars. The Katana boat C: the sushi rice was soft and fresh. The sashimi was fresh but was cut thinner compared to another local sushi restaurant.

The overall experience at Katana was just OK at best.

The food may be a day or two old, my salads were definitely tired. My son’s “roll” may have been hamburger meat. We can’t tell. You tell me, is this a roll?

Not to mention the surly woman who served us. She wouldn’t make eye contact from the start, nor did she want to be doing her position, aka job. Literally asked me to refer to my menu when I asked her a question about how many pieces came in something. I’m sorry, but I don’t leave my house for dinner to get bullied and leave a restaurant hungry.

To say the least, you don’t want to leave the house in for this place. Absolutely not worth it. And actually the three of us were in the worst moods when we left bc of it. Do not waste your money!!! Period.

Came in by myself around lunch time on New Year’s Day and I’m soooo happy that I did!

Right away, the staff and sushi chefs greeted me with a warm welcome, and my server was also very kind and super accommodating.

The FOOD HERE IS AMAZING!!! Good price and high quality products.

Sushi was super fresh!
Avo was perfect!
Rice was on point!

This is my new favorite sushi place in San Diego. I also noticed a lot of locals were dining and enjoying themselves too.

Can’t wait to come back.
Thank you guys!

This restaurant was extremely good. The food was amazing and fresh. The service was good even though it was busy. For the amount of food that we got for 106$ to feed all three of us was more than enough, but good. I highly recommend this place. Definitely going to come here the next time we come to San Diego!

The images below were only a few dishes we got.

Dine in and takeout is excellent. They have a huge menu, but i like to keep it simple with avocado rolls, California rolls , and 1 of their excellent specialty rolls. They have one of the best drink specials in all of Carmel valley, 2 beers + house sake for under 10 dollars. I like to sit at the sushi bar and chat it up with the sushi chefs. Tony and Juan are my favorite, both very nice. Prices are reasonable . Family owned . This is my favorite local spot.

Rose is the best. We’re regulars here and she always takes good care of us. She made a great rec on the bulgogi and kimbab combo. My wife loved it and so did I! I can’t recommend this place enough. Ask for Rose!
