Oh Sonny’s I mourn thee. But for real when did we decide to let millionaires appropriate bbq. Sonny’s used to be solid. I would go to the location on Spirit lake rd all the time and the plates were always solid not the best bbq but really convenient and charming. Then someone decided the chain should mirror something like a Mission BBQ and that’s when Sonny’s died. Been to this location a lot and most times the servers are disinterested and unengaged (this is managements fault) and the food is so one note if it had a voice it’d sound like SpongeBob from that one episode where he turns “normal”. On the bright side the seasonal menus are usually pretty good especially the peach smoked wings. Please try to support your local bbq joint over this corporate gentrified crap.
Edit: just ordered a LARGE brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese and this is what i received. Brisket is chewy as hell, cold, and there’s only two bites worth of Mac. Not spending money here again.

We got the double chicken and double ribs combo. what a deal! Perfect amount for two people and we walked out spending only $17.
The portions were generous and the price can’t be beat. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good BBQ without breaking the bank!

This was me and my girlfriends first time at this location, and we will not be coming back. I’m not going to say the experience was all bad, the food was good and the restaurant was clean. But unfortunately the service was atrocious. Our waitress was Rhonda, she was fine at first we wished her a happy birthday and she exclaimed we were some of the only few to notice. But it went downhill as soon as we were ordered. Our food came out before our drinks and when we asked another waitress who brought out the food where they were. They hadn’t even been started, once we did get them, they didn’t taste like the classic sangria. When we went to tell Rhonda the drink didn’t taste to our liking she looked at us like we were being too much and turned her back and walked away after saying must be because it’s a different bartender (mind you it wasn’t sweet at all which is crazy if you now how this popular drink tastes) while my girlfriend was still speaking and didn’t offer a solution. So obviously at this point I’m ready to leave, and she was also visibly annoyed we asked for the drinks to be taken off. And she only seemed to try to be nicer at the end for the tip after I verbalized loudly to my girlfriend this was awful service and we will never come back. So please work on the service it could’ve went completely differently if things we handled more professionally.

We had an amazing experience at Sonny’s BBQ! Savanah took care of us and gave exceptional service—super friendly and attentive. We ordered the Sonny’s Sampler, Loaded Tots, Pork Egg Rolls, and finished with the Chocolate Chip Cookies. Everything was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Great portions too! Definitely coming back!

I came here for lunch with my friend to celebrate her birthday, and we had such a great experience. She even received a free appetizer, which was a really nice touch. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The customer service was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. Overall, it was just a really nice place to eat, and I’d definitely come back.

I know people really like Sonnys, but tonight, after a long day and several meetings, I stopped to get 2 takeout dinners. I ordered sliced pork for myself. There was so much fat, and I mean fat that I couldn’t even cut thru with a steak knife. It was close to half of my portion. Got the feeling either take out is where they dispose of the bad slices, cause we’re not in the facility to complain or the take out preparer just doesnt care. Doubt I will ever be back as I am not a fan of grizzle! Blackburn’s for me!

I gave Sonny’s in Winter Haven another try to save myself the drive to Bartow. I run a local family owned 24 hour business so getting a good hot meal for dinner is a must and BBQ is my fave! First off, the atmosphere was great. Tables were nice, restaurant including bathrooms were clean. There’s even a nice outdoor area offered. I did have an issue a few weeks back with a curbside order but was simply blown away this trip by the fact that the Manager “AJ” actually cooked my food! While sharing pleasant conversation with me, He suggested I try the Brisket. I did and it was actually better tasting then he talked it up. I ordered a “Family Meal” that consisted of 4 meats, (Chicken, Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork) sides and drinks as well. We had the sides of Tater Tots, Mac and Cheese, Green Beans and Bread. In my opinion, all that is well worth the price of this meal. We also had to order some of our favorites from Sonny’s on the side (Corn Nuggets and Omg the Fried Okra). Myself, Daughter, Son and a few guests were very pleased with how tender and smoke flavored the meats were. It was all cooked to perfection! The portions we received were very plentiful. I look for taste, consistency, pricing and great service. I think I received all of that PLUS! I get the fact that they’re new to our area and within any new business, kinks must be worked through which is why I’m so happy to have returned for another try. THANK YOU “AJ” FOR GIVING ME SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND WONDERFUL FOOD. WE WILL BE FREQUENT CUSTOMERS!

Gregory, our server, was very attentive, friendly. Great tasty food, prices. I think management was helping running the floor, very well run restaurant. Super clean . The onion strings on the loaded tots were cold, but everything else was so good.

We have used Sonny’s catering for past events and have been pleased with the service. This is our 2nd year for our company Christmas party. I did like the ease-of-use ordering online; however, I did not realize that you had to request the setup & serve. Chris (our delivery driver) was in constant communication with me throughout the day and arranged this option for me last minute. He arrived early and setup an aesthetically pleasing spread, even better than the prior year. Hoping he is still around next Christmas as I will specifically request, he oversee it again. We appreciate how accommodating he was and seemed to enjoy his job, unlike a lot of other employees overworked and unappreciated this time of year. Good job Sonny’s!

At drive thru ordered 1 pulled chicken sandwich and 1 pulled pork sandwich with 2 baked sweet potatoes and cinnamon butter. Got 2 chicken sandwiches that tasted like they poured a whole salt Shaker on them. And got some kind of salad dressing NOT cinnamon butter with the potatoes. If we lived closer I would have brought the food back! But it went into the trash can instead. You have just lost 2 good customers!!!
