At our Memphis, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went on 2/11/26 at about 6pm. I ordered a piece of fish and the catfish meal. All the fish were really small, which never happens. Must’ve been a fluke. So I asked if I could get bigger fish and Brittney and Whitney were happy to give me more fish that were bigger. Very pleased! Thank you again, Brittney and Whitney!

The food was great as always. The staff however, leaves much to be desired. There was a young man that came in who appeared to be starting his shift, and he greeted us outside with so much warmth and love in his eyes. His aura was angelic. However, there was a woman (?) in a blue sweatshirt that was very loudly and unprofessionally and berating him. There was nothing he could have done in that time to deserve that. Not sure if she’s the head cook back there or what but it was very unpleasant. Surely couldn’t be the standard here. I can see why she’s in the back. Place him in the front

I left this Captain D’s very disappointed with the service I received. From the moment I walked in, the employees showed no hospitality — no greeting, no smile, and not even basic eye contact. It made me feel unwelcome, as if my presence was a burden rather than appreciated.

The lack of customer service continued throughout my visit. When it came time to leave, I felt so uncomfortable that I didn’t even want to ask for a bag. Instead, I had to wrap my food in paper towels to take it home. That should never be the experience a paying customer has.

I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. A warm greeting and basic courtesy go a long way in creating a positive dining experience. Right now, this location gives the impression that guests are not valued, and that’s something that needs to change.

My visit was exactly on Tuesday 9/16/2025 at 3:45PM if you need to see specifically who was scheduled on Drive-Through. Smaller girl.

Better than what you might expect. Came in at 1:00 pm on a Friday. For a chain that has a standardized menu, the differences that make this location well above average is the age of the building, location and quality of the employees. Wasn’t very busy inside, but the drive through was rolling steady. Music that would appeal universally to any crowd was a good choice. In the future if I had a jones for fish, I’d drive past the closer location about a mile further in Memphis.
