The food is maybe mediocre at best, with a cold cafeteria atmosphere. I support free speech, and am almost grateful they posted “Thank you Pres Trump” on their large sign. I am grateful because it makes it easy for me to take my business elsewhere (and I have a home here). If they want to cheer on a misogynist, racist, divisive, petulant liar, then they’ve lost this customer. Besides, the food really isn’t even up to McD standards.

I have been going to the Homestead Restaurant since I was very little. I remember going there on a hot day to get a delicious FRESH strawberry milkshake and a perfectly golden brown grilled cheese. Now, I love their pulled pork sandwich. While, the portions are enormous, you will certainly leave feeling full. Regardless, you MUST go here for a milkshake. They make them with fresh and local strawberries.

Decided to look up this place after ordering and got a little scared. Got more scared after my soup came out first and it was kind of bland, but I also realize you need to cater to all tastes. Salt can be added, not taken out. The meal came and it was a pretty hefty portion and I have pretty high standards for a hefty portion. It’s overall good food, it’s not Texas BBQ, but this isn’t Texas. The BBQ sauce was unique and very good. The fries I’ve seen people complain about are fresh cut, not the processed stuff you’re used to.
Service was also great despite what a few people have said.

If the food is anything like the owner, than it will be on the wrong side of good. We had the exact experience as a reviewer below, only worse. As we were driving down the road looking for lunch my daughter became ill, we pulled over into a nice lot with a huge dumpster to empty a leaking bag of puke. Where we were greeted by a clearly grumpy gentlemen who said we don’t have trash here (standing in front of his dumpster). I said ok, sorry my daughter is sick and had to stop. After cleaning her up and getting stared at for 5 minutes, I asked if he ever been sick as a kid? He then demanded we leave or he was calling the police. We drove off bag of puke leaking out of my window.
He was a great reflection of his business while wearing his USA hat, hope he is not the new America. You won’t see me walk in those doors ever.
BTW the place next door was super helpful, provided up with bags and towels. Guess what happened? We stayed for lunch and were quite welcomed… that is how you run a business.

The rudest restaurant owner I’ve ever met. My girlfriend and I broke down right outside the restaurant. They were closed and we parked in their parking lot while we waited for the engine to cool so we could make it to the gas station down the road. The female owner came out and asked why we’d parked there and then told us that it was fine for us to park there for 20 minutes while the engine cooled. The man (I assume her husband) came out a minute later, fuming like a Neanderthal and screaming like a baby who’d lost his treats about us parking there. I cannot fathom how someone so cruel can operate a business like this. I feel so sorry for his employees.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat on the way back to Cwu. More than worth it. Their French Dip and shakes are excellent. Their fries leave a little to be desired but sprinkle on some of their BBQ sauce and it’s still great. Would definitely come back again.

The homestead is a great BBQ Restaurant. We stop in every time we pass through the area, the BBQ chicken and pulled pork are always so delish! I am a huge fan of their Banana Cream Pie. Their food and desserts are always so good. All of my friends and family will continue to always stop in for a bite when we are in the area.

Pretty disappointing. I ordered the BBQ Beef on a bun, and for $8.25, I expected it to be Beef Brisket, or some other choice cut of meat, as this is a BBQ establishment. But it was just plain Roast Beef lunch meat dipped in barbecue sauce. And the sandwich was tiny, too. Should have seen the warning signs – all the good BBQ places I’ve been to smell like delicious wood smoke and sauce, but this place had no aroma about it.
They do have a large selection of homemade desserts, but I didn’t try any. The macaroni salad was good, though.

It’s OK. BBQ Style, but not a true southern BBQ joint. I got the beef ribs, and they were very good, moist and tender, but I don’t think they came out of a smoker. A good stop if you’re driving through but nothing to go out of the way for.

Had to stop in the parking lot here briefly to feed our baby while driving through town. We decided to have lunch here. My husband went in asking to use the bathroom before we ate (I was still out in the car), the owner refused and then came out and yelled at us to leave and threatened to call the police because I was breastfeeding in my car in his lot. We were going to eat there but now we definitely never will.
