This place is a hidden gem. It’s a unique atmosphere to eat your lunch while watching a few small planes take off. As you can see from my photo, the food was absolutely delicious- I couldn’t even wait to take a picture before eating half of my club sandwich. That roasted pepper soup with the shredded parmesan is heavenly! I brought my toddler- who absolutely loved being able to see the planes. I felt like it was a friendly and inviting spot for families. Will be returning soon!

Food was delicious and the time I put in to pick up was accurate. In fact when I arrived on time my food was getting boxed to go. Got the Meatloaf sandwich and Tater Tots.
As you can see the meal was as exactly as seen on the menu and the taste was excellent. Sandwich had a smokey taste, was moist and the slice was a very generous portion. I added bacon and caramelized onions and it was an excellent choice. Tots weren’t greasy and had a very slight salt and pepper seasoning. I spoke with Jason the manager, and found out alot about the goals of the Bistro. I will go back again and suggest everyone try it out and pass on the word of its location.

So as someone not familiar with the airport, the bistro was a bit confusing to find. It’s not a standalone restaurant, as the bistro is located inside the terminal. The airport terminal is open to the public, just walk right through the doors. I will mention that there are some small signs leading the way and Google maps takes you right there. Once I found my way in I was greeted by a friendly guy named Jason and the cook Hannah, who answered all my questions about the menu and the airport as well. Both my orders were to go. I had Gouda burger with caramelized onions and mushrooms. My wife ordered the pilots club. We both had side salads with crumbled blue cheese and balsamic dressing. Overall the food was fantastic, everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The candied Bacon on my wife’s sandwich was her favorite. Jason also gave me a sample of some coffee he was brewing up. This was his own blend that was bold and smooth, outstanding flavor, gourmet stuff 10/10. This is a perfect little lunch spot for people living /working around wildwood area. We will definitely be back.

This is inside the regional airport. Great flavored bacon on the BLT sandwich. The salad was excellent and if it looks familiar, you know this restaurant sister’s company is Blue Wind. The manager was super sweet. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food I received. I will be back..

I feel sort of bad for leaving a negative review of a small business, but the lunch I got there was just so abysmal I feel like I have to say something about it. I got the “Puddle Jumper Pulled Pork” – this is described as “rum soaked pork on banana bread, topped with vinegar based slaw featuring hints of mango and coconut, topped with pineapple salsa and hot honey” that’s admittedly an odd combo of flavors but I really like unusual flavors, and pork can definitely be paired successfully with sweet fruits if you know what you’re doing. Reader, what I received was a thick slice of partly unbaked, VERY sweet banana bread topped with a little bit of sauceless pulled pork and 6 pale chunks of what appears to be canned pineapple. No mango, no coconut, no slaw, no hot honey that I could taste, and certainly no pineapple salsa. I initially thought the banana bread was just wet from having been under warm pulled pork for several minutes, but upon closer investigation I realized it wasn’t baked all the way, the bottom of the slice was a sort of dense gluey texture all the way through. If I had been eating in the restaurant I’d have asked for something else, but I got takeout, so I suffered through a couple of bites but then I had to throw it away and make do with the side salad for my lunch. I literally can’t remember a time in my life when I’ve gotten a meal so bad I physically couldn’t tolerate eating it, but I’m sorry to say this was truly that bad.

Two stars because my partner got a “Roast Beef & Blue” which was fine, so obviously not all the food is like this, and because the guy at the window was very nice.

Get out of here, you lie. Nope no lie. Best f’ing lobster roll I’ve ever had outside of Maine. Huge lump of meat, gotta be a whole fish, like a half pound of claw and tail, yummy yummy, no skimping or slouching … and stuffed into a dreamy buttery brioche roll? So good. (Bonus: the “small town airport” surroundings are a nice alternative to the usual Chesapeake aesthetic everyone else tends to go for in SOMD. I approve.)

I wanted to share my delightful experience atBird Dog Bistro, located at the Captain Walter Francis Duke Regional Airport in California, MD! My son and I love visiting this charming spot, where we can enjoy watching airplanes take off and land while savoring some truly amazing food.

During our latest visit, we indulged in the hummus plate, banana bread, and the avocado chicken Caesar wrap—all for just $25! It’s such a fantastic deal. We always try something new each time we visit, but the hummus plate has become a must-have for us. Everything was incredibly fresh, and the portion sizes were generous—so much so that we ended up splitting our meal into two!

You can choose to dine inside the terminal or enjoy the lovely little patio outside. Bird Dog Bistro is definitely a hidden gem that I highly recommend.
