This was a fun place to stop unexpectedly. My husband said he’s been told about it a few times but we are just finally trying it out. I loved it! The whole vibe. Which isn’t one of those places that is a manufactured vibe, it’s just a great little spot, out in the middle of nowhere that looks like it’s been there for ages, unassuming and made for a good meal. It’s small inside, just a few tables and we got there just in time on a Sunday afternoon because we were able to be seated immediately. Then shortly after they filled up. We ordered the fried taters tornado, because of course! And a mushroom havarti burger. Both were really good! I look forward to going back and trying other menu items. The service was great, really friendly and laid back. recommend!

This is a great place I highly recommend it. The food and service were amazing. The blackberry fried pie was the best I ever had with the expectations of my mom’s.

Our first time here and it was absolutely delicious! We were able to meet the owner and he was super nice. Carson was our waiter and he was great! He made great suggestions and answered all my questions. We had the fried green tomatoes, so good. The patty melt was one of the best we’ve ever had. Chicken tenders were delicious. We got fried pies to go and they look amazing. We will definitely be back! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

If you haven’t visited the Fried Tater Cafe & talked with the team tater folks, your missing out. It is a unique little Cafe out of the way from main stream traffic & chain restaurants. The food is good & the atmosphere is laid back & fun. They have a menu & also have a meat & 3 buffet Thu – Sat. with fish on Fri. & breakfast served on Sat & Sun. mornings. Say hi to Carson…he has the early shift & he will make you feel right at home. Parking is available in front & back of the Cafe. It’s family friendly & they are waiting to serve you.

A beautiful day for a drive so I picked The Fried Tater Café for a visit. Housed in the old Versailles/Rockvale Store (built in 1884) and had been empty for the past 40 years, they did a great job renovating. Sat down and Megan brought me a menu while sharing some of the “must haves” here. I ordered the Philly Sirloin steak sandwich (this is not a Philly cheesesteak for all you purists out there) and the Tater Tornado as an appetizer.
The Tater Tornado gives you the best of both worlds…potato chips and french fries and they are really good. I sprinkled a little salt on em, dipped in ranch dressing, they are addicting!!!
This steak sandwich is solid! The steak had some nice grill char, great flavor, and is very tender. The veggies caramelized while the smoked gouda cheese is a really nice touch. Even the “side” of cole slaw was very good, fresh, and crunchy.
While I was eating Megan brought some fried pies to a table and they smelled incredible. So I ordered a blueberry one to go and suffered in my SUV the whole way home smelling it. These pies alone are worth the drive out here…absolutely delicious! Without a doubt the best homemade blueberry fried pie I’ve ever enjoyed.
Really great food, nice serene country setting, and friendly service. Well worth the drive out to Rockvale!!!

The second we drove up, we knew this was going to be a great experience!
We met the owner and had a great conversation about the restaurant and what they recommended. Both the owner and Carson told me to get the patty melt. And even mentioned to add bacon and jalapeno. GREAT CALL!
The fried green tomatoes, my patty melt and the overall experience has made me a repeat diner!
Keep up the great work!

Order a cheeseburger and it was over cooked, almost burnt and salty. Service was great and the atmosphere was nice. A lot of history in this spot. Nothing makes me want to go back.

First time eating at this little, out of the way place that’s not far from Rockvale, Tennessee. I was honestly surprised at how much I loved it. Got breakfast (it was lunch but breakfast is the most superior meal of the day) and it was epic. The Breakfast Bowl with scrambled eggs, the well known fried taters, fried chicken, and gravy blew my mind. I even got a sausage and biscuit that reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking.
If you want something down home and want to take a little time to enjoy it, The Fried Tater is a destination you’ll love.
(I also heard their burgers and grilled chicken sandwich is top notch).
