I lived in the area 15 years ago for about five years and used to eat at Kyoto nearly once a week for the duration. I hadn’t been back since then, and expected as things usually go that the place I loved would have changed ownership and deteriorated.
I was luckily absolutely wrong! Same ownership, lovely service, cozy clean atmosphere, and FANTASTIC food. Best Japanese food in the Hudson Valley hands down.
I’ve eaten nabeyaki udon in many places (including NYC) since and it was never as good as it was at Kyoto. I got it again tonight and it was just as good, if not better. I’m so glad to have this restaurant back in my life!

I’ve eaten here soooo many times I can’t believe I’ve never written a review… even though, I’ve always recommended this place to people looking to Japanese Dining.
Place is small but cozy… can get pretty packed and experience can get dampened by other loud and possibly obnoxious diners but that’s often beyond the control of the restaurant.
Street parking can be difficult as it’s on a busy corner…
Food excellent, service excellent… there’s really nothing more I can say. The prices have been competitive even when seemingly everything else in the world has gotten more expensive.
When the tea is good you know the place will be great….

They used smoked salmon instead of regular salmon on my rainbow roll. When I brought it to their attention, they said that’s the way it always comes. After 2 years of dining here, I’ll have to stop. To tell a bold lie to cut your costs is pretty unacceptable.

Great waiter, food, and experience! Right when I walked in all the employees were welcoming. The food was perfectly prepared with no issues. The raw fish was safe and did not cause any problems. The restaurant was clean and very well decorated. The only problem is the menu was a little difficult to navigate. I recommend going here if you want some very nice Japanese cuisine.
