I found this place through social media, and a lot of people say it’s similar to Brodard’s. The similarities are definitely there, but I still think Brodard’s has the edge. The menu is small, but they do what they offer really well, everything we ordered was delicious. I do wish I had tried the papaya salad; the table next to us ordered it, and it looked amazing. One tip: if you want the nem on a skewer, you have to ask for it, it’s not listed on the menu.

The Nem Nuong Nha Trang here was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The meat was juicy, perfectly grilled, and tasted very authentic. Everything was served fresh and paired really well with the vegetables and dipping sauce. On top of that, the service was excellent, the staff were very attentive, polite, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. Overall, a great dining experience and I would definitely come back again.

Very delicious pork sausage rolls. They were light, crunchy, refreshing, and umami. The garlic dipping sauce was also divine. This place was high on my food bucket list and I am so happy I checked it off. I like how the menu is very focused on a couple of specialty items, makes decision paralysis a lot easier. Food took a while to prepare (like 25-30 minutes) especially when it gets busy so I would recommend ordering ahead. Limited seating, seems more takeout focused.

From buying for takeout to ordering party trays, Nem Nuong Nha Trang does it all. They specialize in only 3 dishes – Nem Nuong spring rolls, Thai Beef skewers, and papaya salad. Prices are slightly expensive for a smaller portion size. Recommend to order over the phone to avoid waiting.

Nem Nuong Spring Rolls ($10): comes with 3 spring rolls and their signature sauce. Made with one piece of nem nuong meat, lettuce, and fried rice paper. The meat was savory and is balanced by the sauce. The fried rice paper adds a crunchy texture to the spring roll. The spring rolls aren’t extremely filling, making it a light and healthy meal. Wish the spring roll was bigger though.

Thai Beef Skewer ($10): comes with 3 decent sized skewers. The meat was slightly salty but came with lettuce and cucumbers to balance it out. Wish portion was slightly bigger or came with a rice or carb to eat with.

I called a day in advanced to order a party tray for a company lunch and picked it up on time without waiting. I would definitely pick up a party tray for another party or to share with others.

The food was delicious. My friend recommended me this place and I had to try. I ordered to-go and ate the food 3 hours later, and it was still delicious. Best to eat asap because the fried eggroll wrapper will not be as crunchy.
It was $10 for three rolls. I would eat this as a snack and not a meal!

Small little place with mainly nem nuong, meat skewers, and papaya salad. Quick grab with ok food. Food comes out fairly quick.

Tasty food but could be better. The sauce for the nem is a bit plain. The meat skewers are not heated. Feel like its cooked and they just microwaved it. Their drinks menu was not available for our visit.

If you’re looking for a Brodard Nem Nuong dupe, THIS IS IT! It’s SO GOOD! I recommend calling in your orders because it takes about 40+ minutes from placing your order to receiving the goods! Highly recommend and I’ll be returning!

FINALLY!! A Nem Nuong Cuon (Grilled Pork Spring Rolls) spot in the Bay Area that actually has the special sticky rice dipping sauce.

TIP: GO OFF HOURS OR EARLY – it is super high demand!

I grew up eating Brodard in Orange County for 15+ years and when I moved up to the bay in 2021, I have been so sad that I didn’t find any spots that had dope Nem Nuong with this particular sauce. I don’t blame them, it takes a lot more effort than the basic sauces.

This restaurant just opened about 3 months ago and is preparing to be the second location for Bo Ne Phu Yen. Once they hard launch, their popular Bo Ne (sizzling plate) will be added to their very small menu. You know a place is bomb if their menu is small.

One order of the Nem Nuong Cuon comes with 3 spring rolls and is $10, which is hella good in this economy. Also, one order of Skewers comes with 3 skewers for $10. The egg cream coffee was $6.

ANYWAYS, everything was delicious and I’ll happily drive over an hour to come eat here again.

Loved the Nem Nuong Cuon — so good! The Lao papaya salad wasn’t my favorite though, the fish sauce was a bit strong for my taste.

Hat tip to Cherylynn N. (on Yelp) for always having the first to review for spots worth checking out but, more importantly, worth supporting.

Like her, I’ve been a fan of Bò Né Phú Yên for a few years, starting pre-pandemic in 2018.

I’d long loved going to the original location Tully Road food court to simply try all the different specialized Vietnamese cuisine but my first taste of the Bò Né dish or Vietnamese steak and eggs and I was a fan for life.

Several other restaurants tried to replicate the dish but none could match the master chef and the price made it the best hidden gem in the Bay Area.

Yelp reviews, IG reels, but mainly a well deserved listing on SF Chronicle’s Top 25 Restaurants list skyrocketed their fame and they’re now happily thriving oftentimes with lines on the weekend.

Thus, I was filled with happiness when I saw Cherylynn N’s photo about a new spot featuring Bò Né Phú Yên.

Nem Nuong Nha Trang is the family’s newest outpost on the corner of Vietnam Town and it’s both an expansion and investment in their family legacy.

The menu is Viet-Lao-Japanese focused with all new items but the plan is to upgrade the new and spacious corner spot to support an expansion of Bò Né Phú Yên. Construction permitting and city delays may make the launch a bit later than anticipated (expected more than 6 months thus the pivot to Nem Nuong) but I was happy to stop, support, and share my excitement with Jack, who I’ve seen help his chef father at the original location.

It’s a smart drink and cafe idea and I love seeing places I love double down on what they do. I had a chance to order one of their signature Vietnamese egg coffees, their spicy Lao papaya salad and their Brodard style grilled pork spring rolls.

Everything is delicious but I’m particularly a fan of the pungent, savory and sour papaya salad. The Bay Area needs more of these flavors! I’m excited to return for the Lao beef skewers and, of course, the signature Bò Né steak and eggs when it’s available. Until then, I’ll be happily waiting.

Welcome to Vietnam Town and I’m excited to follow your story and next steps!
