Nice atmosphere with good music and very friendly staff. The coffee was just average, and the food honestly didn’t stand out as much as I expected. This specific location also has a bit of a parking challenge, which can be inconvenient. Overall, it’s still a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy the vibe, just room for improvement.

We went in this restaurant with my friends to take a lunch. There was no settle inside so we were asked to go and settle outside but we had to call the waiters several times to come and take care of us. The food it’s nice

I came in today around 5:15 PM. Two staff members were working. One greeted me, but the other—who had a long ponytail—did not acknowledge me at all. She walked straight to the register with no greeting. When I ordered, she grabbed a bag without asking whether I was dining in. I mentioned I was eating in and asked if they were closing soon because it felt like they were winding down. She told me they close at 6, so I figured maybe she was ready to go.
Still, after ringing up my croissant, she walked away before I could even ask for coffee, which made the interaction feel rushed, dismissive, and unwelcoming. The croissant itself was pretty good, but that level of service from one staff member is enough that I wouldn’t return. Advice don’t come around this time

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and it wasn’t that busy so already a win. We decided to sit outside because it was a nice day. The chairs aren’t the coziest and when it was time to eat, there were tons of flies. It may be good to have the table fans for this issue.
Menu has so many options. I really appreciate this because everyone has different dietary restrictions so this helps. However I ordered the turkey bacon avocado on toast. I asked for it to be on a croissant but I was told no. Sourdough bread and super seed bread were the only choices. So lots of options, limited substitutions.
Our server sent someone else to tell me no. That was weird but I know for a fact it would’ve been better with a croissant.
Overall though, the food and service were good. No huge complaints and everyone enjoyed their meal mostly.
I would definitely come back and I would recommend others try it as well, just brung your own croissants.

It’s not super clear to me at first glance that they serve you if you’re seated at a table—I went to the register first to order but was told I could sit and order like at any other restaurant or diner. That was fine.
Overall the place was great. I ordered an iced green tea, a baguette, and a croissant. An unexpected but pleasant surprise was the fact that they brought out a strawberry and mixed berry jam, as well as a hazelnut spread, with the baguette (which they sliced thinly at my request). Total only came out to about $14 and it was more than filling for two of us. Of course everything was fresh.
Be prepared to stand up to grab a waiter’s attention!

I stopped in for a light meal after shopping at Eastern Market. For this place to be on Capitol Hill and in a dense shopping area, I was surprised it took several minutes for a host to notice I was waiting to be seated. Perhaps they were more focused on attending to those eating outdoors than those eating indoors?? Once seated, I ordered a frittata with a side order of bacon. They gave me two slices of stale bread for a runny frittata, so I asked they take the stale bread away. I ordered bread that I’d like so I could eat the runny frittata. But then I had to ask the host to replace my dirty fork. Again, it took a few minutes to get someone’s attention — my meal getting cold at this point. I wanted to have an espresso, but I was told the machine was out of order and being serviced. Oh well, I just drank water. The host never returned to check on me so it took a while to get attention for the tab. There are times you have a dining experience that seems “off balance” and this was one of those experiences. Of the Le Pain’s I have eaten at this one was surprisingly a “downer” for me. Next time I shop Eastern Market, I will not eat here.

We were worried after we sat down and then read a bunch of 1 or 2 star reviews. But most of those were complaining about the service being slow or inattentive.
In our case, they got to us within 3 minutes, the food was great (a breakfast brioche, and a scrambled egg croissant) and it arrived very quickly.
I think they had made an effort to improve the service.

Very very short staffed, I felt so bad for the sole waiter serving 30 plus people. She was literally running in the cafe. Waited 20 min to be served after proactively taking a menu and then proactively waiving to the waitress . I don’t think it’s her fault, she has this look of anxiety and stress on her face. The management need to hire more people.

We stopped for breakfast after browsing Eastern Market. The service was very pleasant, we sat right away at 11am on a Sunday. I really enjoyed my cappuccino and ham, Gruyère and egg croissant. My husband ordered the manchego and prosciutto sandwich which comes on a ciabatta roll- he thought the content to bread ratio was really off. He did enjoy the chicken soup. I would definitely stop back here for that croissant sandwich!
