Love this cafe! Reserved some tables for an event that I threw for some girlfriends in their back area and it was perfect. Staff is super nice! Recommend coming on your own or inquiring about booking tables/a room for an event and encouraging friends to get cafe food & drink

The Hostel Cafe is a wonderful place to gather, whether for work or independently. It is such a warm and welcoming environment. The staff are incredibly friendly and quick to respond to any questions, which makes you feel taken care of and the experience even better. The food is fresh and delicious! I recommend the orzo pasta, chicken skewers, and their signature sliders. Also, their coffee is among the best in Portland.

You can tell they really care about quality and community. Big thank you to all the staff!!

We absolutely love The Hostel Café! We host our Blossom & Bloom accountability group here every other Sunday, and it has become one of our favorite gathering spaces. The team is always so welcoming and kind — they truly create a warm, inviting environment that makes everyone feel comfortable the moment they walk in.
It feels amazing to support a local business that pours so much care into what they do. The food and drinks are consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is perfect for meaningful conversations and connection.
I also regularly meet my strategic planning clients here, and it’s such a great spot for all the business we do at Blossom & Bloom! It’s the ideal blend of cozy and professional.
Thank you for being such a wonderful home base for our community. We love you guys!

I work for a small nonprofit in Portland, and we have hosted several events and celebrations at the Northwest Portland Hostel and The Hostel Café. All the staff are always so kind, helpful, and flexible. They make it easy to plan and easy to be there.

The food we have catered from the Cafe for events is always well-loved by our guests. We also have small staff meetings in the Cafe when we want a change of scenery and a good cup of chai! It is such a warm and welcoming space for our team.

We ❤️ the NW Portland Hostel and The Hostel Cafe!

Our small nonprofit hosts our annual fundraising event at The Hostel Cafe & NW Portland Hostel. Their venue is perfect for casual events. The staff if extremely helpful, kind, accommodating, and generous. It’s apparent how much the Hostel Cafe does to support and give back to their community. I always feel welcomed and it has become our go-to spot for work meetings and events. Plus, the food is delicious!

I have been to the Hostel Cafe many times over the last several months and have always come enjoy my time in the open space of the Commons area, but I can’t wait to sit out in the courtyard a bit more when the weather brightens up (immunosuppressed)!

The specials are always great, and it does provide a veritable hearth in the NW side of Portland for folks to enjoy with nightly events – I tend to be there on Mondays, and don’t always get around to seeing the Open Mic night, but that is just one thing they share through the week.

I recommend the Hostel Cafe which provides a lovely place to enjoy a fair-priced meal whether you stay at the Hostel or not. I’m partial to a Grilled Cheese or Mac, and a Lager, but I can also recommend the burgers, scones, and of course the coffee – miss that Peppermint, though!

What an amazing place! We held a large group meeting there. The space is bright and spacious. The staff was super helpful, including kindly turned down the music, so we could hold our meeting. The food was wonderful. We will recommend it to others and return often!

Never thought I’d be a regular at a hostel in my own city, but I can’t help it here! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the place was filled warmth and a variety of people enjoying one another’s company. It felt like a place locals return to often, and overnight visitors can feel at home in. The food in the cafe was hearty and had something for every diet. Lots of good local events happen here, or can be found on the event board. As a born and raised Portlander, this place is loaded with Portland charm. Has vintage and history throughout but absolutely updated and well-maintained for modern times.

Decided to try a new place for breakfast and the Hostel Cafe was a short walk from our Airbnb.

My partner and I both ordered the French Toast served with two pieces of a very dense break fried crispy and topped with butter and maple syrup on the side. The dish also contained some strawberries, blue berries and banana pieces.

Very good French Toast and the service counter is very helpful.

I have been part of a team hosting the Portland WordPress Meetup on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the NW Portland Hostel Cafe. They provide a good sized meeting room with large screen tv that is perfect for tech demonstrations. It is also nice for everyone to have the option to purchase food and beverage for the meeting itself. We are grateful for the free meeting space, something hard to find in Portland.
