Cheap eats, diverse crowd eating, warm staff, good food. Seat yourself, order from menu or order cafeteria style. Can eat in or get it to go. Take receipt to pay at end of cafeteria line. Lots of desserts to try. Street parking. BLT and sweet tea were good! Glad we tried it.

Grew up here . I remember coming to Genes as a child and I love the people and the southern food and the folks there are definitely down home folks . That’s a plus in my book. Great job !!! I miss the old way Genes looked inside however, I like the new look also. Can’t beat those chicken pot pies!!! Yum!!! Yum!.

Waitresses were very efficient and friendly. I also loved the atmosphere, but cooks: Your food needs some seasoning, like a LOT. Looks great, taste, not so much. Sorry for my honesty.

The food was good and served hot so a small wait can be expected. Service was great. Bathroom was a bit small and not ADA accessable. Overall, I would eat here again. Stop by and enjoy the food!

Classic small town, family-owned meat and three where every local eats. Reasonably priced menu as well as freshly cooked daily specials – but they always have banana pudding! They don’t sereve pre-made hamburger patties, and their crinkle-cut fries are perfectly crispy. Endless coffee and tea refills.
I don’t know how long it’s been there, but it looks the same today as it did 30 years ago when I first walked in. The only difference is the NO SMOKING sign.

I love seeing all the old photos of Chester on the walls! Always nice to have a small town restaurant that has endured the test of time! Good food 🙂
