My husband and I came for an early Valentine’s dinner. We are gluten-free, and there were multiple options for us, which is great. Our waiter, Seth, was amazing. Food was definitely on point. The sweet chili chicken is savory and just packed with so much flavor. It did take a little bit of time to get our food, but it was completely worth it. We were very happy with the food, service and atmosphere.

Visited Moonstone Bistro for the first time for Sunday Brunch. We hadn’t made any reservations, but there was seating available. We opted for a table on their patio. A quick check of the menu, drinks were ordered. Shortly after the arrival of the drinks, we ordered our brunch. We also received a scone for each of us, as part of the breakfast. We ordered the buckwheat pancakes, the moonstone traitor Benedict, and the classic breakfast with mushrooms and spinach. We didn’t have to wait long before our food was served. It was plated well and of good portion size. I found the buckwheat pancakes to be very good. The Benedict was well like, too. The classic breakfast was a bit too greasy for the liking of that person. The service was very good and the prices were a bit above average. I thought the restaurant was inviting and had a good bistro vibe.

This is definitely my favorite places to eat in Redding. The chef and staff here make every visit special. The food is great, it’s a lot of fresh farm to table which I really appreciate. I would love to see the menu rotate and offer a more seasonal approach. (Because I’m going to eat her a lot.) The drinks are on point with a wide variety wine and cocktails. They have pet friendly seating on the patio. They offered me water, then also offered to bring some water for my dog. On top of that, they gave her a small snack too. It’s refreshing to see a high quality restaurant in Redding be so progressive and accommodating.

We eat out in Redding quite often and have been to virtually every restaurant in town and for my money Moonstone is best restaurant in town. The menu is not large, but it does change periodically and what they do they do very well. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about each menu item and their descriptions of the food have you salivating. However, the chef executes and there is incredible attention to detail and the presentation is only second to the smell, taste and flavor of what is normally a gastronomic adventure of epic proportion. The intimate size of the restaurant always makes for a pleasurable hustle and bustle and really feels like a French or Italian bistro, where patrons come and linger for hours because mix of the company and food. Love this place keep up the good work!

Came here hesitant. Our serve Halle B was excellent ! Our mimosas were perfectly proportioned and our meals were great. We both had the mushroom Swiss burger , mine with a chicken breast cooked perfectly , and his with beef cooked medium well (not pink throughout the whole burger) and was excellent as well. Redding does not impress us much but this did ! The champagne vinegarette has no dairy but eggs and it was so good on the salad that came with the burger ! The outside ambience had amazing heaters and just a great overall atmosphere . Love the cucumber waters !

After a good hike exercise at the Whiskeytown fall trail, we were hungry and wanted to find something to eat quickly. Given the good rating at yelp, we gave it a try.
We ordered some cocktail, the lunch special and the salad, they are very tasty, but it is considered quite pricy given the portion of the meal (the lunch special came with a very small sandwich + either salad / soup, for $18). By the way, the complimentary bread comes with some kind of home made garlic butter. The bread is OK, but the garlic butter is really tasty. We liked the butter more than the bread.!!
Overall, it was a good experience. the waitress was very nice and we love the quality of the meal. Highly recommended.!!. However, if you are looking for a big feast without breaking the bank, this may not be the right choice for you.

A fabulous place. Friendly staff and the food is beyond good. I am a vegan and the chef prepared a vegan plate for me that was so delicious, beautiful to look at and very tasty. I ordered sauté vegetables and the Moroccan carrots. The vegetables included asparagus, green beans, spinach and corn and the Moroccan carrots had some kind of coating and came with pistachios, sweet yogurt, wasabi sauce and toasted bread. OMG. Everything was so good. Compliments to the owners, chef, and servers.

I’ve been to Moonstone a few times over the years. There are a few exceptional things about this place. They have an amazing Chocolate Soufflé that has never failed to impress. Possibly the best soufflé I’ve ever had and I have eaten a lot of soufflé over the years haha. The service has always been good, waiters are usually very prompt and know the menu well. Definitely call in advance to make sure they have room or make a reservation though. If you show up during the height of dinner service, there’s a chance you can’t be seated or you’ll have to wait for someone to not show. These are the pros.
The food here sounds good on paper, but typically has failed to meet my expectations. I had a pineapple Coleslaw that seemed very refreshing sounding, but ended up just being chopped cabbage with extra cabbage on the side and no flavor. The slaw covered up half the plate and its mountain would slide down to the table every time you tried to scoop some onto your fork. The pork spare ribs that laid on top looked scrumptious, but had too much peanut butter in its house made sauce (yes peanut butter). The meat was also very fatty, and I only had a few decent bites. It was nearly stone cold when I took the first bite.
The chicken soup I had was good, but contained way too much celery. Every bite had several chunks of celery and it really took away from the actual flavor of the soup, which was very good.
They have complimentary house made rolls here and some type of garlic butter. Honestly the rolls were highlight of my meal besides the soufflé.
I like that they change the menu regularly so I can taste different dishes, but I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a full meal here in months. If it weren’t for the soufflé and lovely staff I don’t think I’d try it again.

I had heard only good things about this place. I was told that they served excellent, finely prepared food in a romantic setting. Well… in my opinion, not so much.
The first thing that I noticed was how small the dining area was. The tables were too close together to have a conversation that you don’t want to share with those seated next to you. Even though we had reservations we were seated at a tiny table next to the door. Then there was the menu.
I am usually suspicious of restaurants that have dozens and dozens of items listed on their menu. If you are offered 50 or more various dishes you have to wonder how much of it is fresh. This restaurant was on the other end of the spectrum. There was only FIVE dinner entrees on the menu. Five. A pork chop, fried chicken, a steak, a fish (cod), and a pasta. There were five other items on the “bistro” listing that included burgers and tacos, hardly the fare that you would choose for a romantic meal. There were no specials to chose from. Just those five entrees.
The food was expertly and beautifully plated. I only wished that it tasted as good as it looked. The bone-in, smoked pork chop was on the tough side and not very tasty, kind of bland. The fried chicken was moist but nothing special, at least not $26 special. The eggplant parmesan was overcooked and lacking in texture. For the money I think that there are better options in Redding.

We were immediately sat at a table. The service was quick. The food was delicious. I’m not sure the price point is what it should be, and they charge a service fee. But I would consider going back.
My coworker ordered the moonstone burger and did mention that the beef used was high quality but the burger was still a little dry. So try to get an extra side of aioli. I ordered the fish tacos, on a flour tortilla, and it was wonderful. My coworker was jealous! I made sure to share.
