The couple next to us that came in returned food to the kitchen, looked at us and just shook their heads…
Nothing is perfect in this world… This use to be a very good restaurant… Not worth your time or money, never mind the disrespect.
My actual rating is 4/5 but gave it 1 less because they charge extra for any veggies and the staff behavior was disappointing.
Here is the summary of our experience there:
1. Ambiance 4/5: The place has a Thai-inspired decor and feels like you are transported to the South Asian country. You feel refreshed, especially in this seafood town looking for a change.
2. Service 2/5: This is where I was deeply disappointed. Our server Shannon was rude and anything we asked for, she made faces and gave us looks. This made our experience subpar. On top of this, they charged us $2 for adding onion and $2 for adding Broccoli
3. Food 3.5/5: The food was good in taste and the quantity was great. The portion was so big that I even took it home and had it the next day. One caution though, there are not a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. The only one I saw was Rama Garden Noodle so keep your hopes low if you are looking for veg options.
a) Panyang curry was good in taste
4. Value for Money 4/5: I initially thought the place was on the higher side but looking at the quantity, I feel it is reasonably priced
In summary:
The Good:
1) Ambiance
2) Great reviews from locals
3) Panyang curry
4) Great portion sizes
Not So good:
1) Staff behavior
2) Anything changed was charged extra for any changes
Planning on coming back.
3 stars for service given as we waited 20 min for our dirty dishes to be cleared and for the check. The place was not busy at this time.
I actually had to go and get our server to make these requests so we could leave.
Overall excellent experience.
Shannon came right over for a drink order. The mai tai punch was delicious.
We ordered various appetizers- golden bags, crab rangoon all delicious.
I ordered a “papaya salad” which was really good, but didn’t have any papaya in it so slightly confusing. For mains, you can choose from various bases – rice, salad, noodles, pad Thai- and add protein. I chose a fried rice with beef in it. The rice was really fresh, as were the veggies, and the pineapple in it added a nice sweetness, but I thought it could have had a little more beef in it.
Service was great, food was great, but I felt like the restraint was a little bit dark.
I will definitely be returning.
We came to Maone for seafood, but needing a break we came here. Summer tools, seaweed salad, pork in garlic sauce, & Crispy duck…were all grest. Vegetables crisp and fresh, duck crisp x4, garlic sauce excellent. If like “HOT” as for fish sauce with chilies.
Looking forward to return….SOON.
