The Shuckin’ Shack in West Ashley is one of our go-to spots in Charleston because it’s convenient, consistent, and always delivers.

We grabbed seats at the bar and had such a great experience. I had the fried oysters on a salad and they were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender inside. Rob ordered the Breakwater Burger, which he loves, and it never disappoints. Their burgers are seriously underrated for a seafood spot.

Jessica and Nicole at the bar are the best. Friendly, attentive, and just genuinely fun to be around. They make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit.

If you’re looking for reliable seafood, oysters, burgers, and a relaxed bar atmosphere in West Ashley, this is a solid Charleston favorite. We’ll definitely keep coming back.

We stopped by Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar and honestly had such a great time! Even though we didn’t go for oysters, the rest of the menu absolutely delivered.
I ordered the fish burger, and it was so good — crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and packed with flavor without being heavy. My husband tried the crab burger and basically claimed it as his new favorite seafood sandwich. And my mother-in-law went with the crab tacos, which were fresh, seasoned just right, and super satisfying.
Everything tasted fresh, the portions were solid, and the whole vibe in the restaurant was relaxed and welcoming. The staff was friendly and checked on us just enough, without hovering.
If you’re in Charleston and want casual seafood that still hits every time, this is a great spot. We’ll definitely be back!

We visit Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar every year, and it’s always one of our favorite stops! The seafood is consistently fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service is friendly and attentive. Whether we’re there for oysters, shrimp, or a cold drink, we always leave satisfied and already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend! The Fries App is amazing!! Peak of oysters are sour go to!

One of the only places in Charleston that you can get Steamed Oysters by the half peck and full peck. Don’t go down town to only get disappointed. This is the legit place to get Steamed Oysters.

Our neighborhood seafood place. Fried shrimp, clams, oysters. Either the “basket” or sometimes a shrimp or oysters poboy. Not a good selection of local craft tap beers (bummer). They have too many national brand beers and IPAs and not other stuff. A little pricey for what you get. We have been going here for about 5 years. Looking a little tired, menus were falling apart and needs a good cleaning based on our visit this week.

I usually go to the location in Summerville. I had friends in town and this location happened to be closer so gave it a shot. Absolutely loved it. The menu and food is the same, but it’s a completely different, younger vibe. The Summerville location is more of a dive bar with an older crowd. Nothing wrong with that but as we are younger this vibe was perfect.
There’s nothing on the menu I don’t recommend and only a handful of things I haven’t tried. Both locations are my favorite for seafood in the area.

Loved visiting the shuckin shack for the first time while on vacation recently. Clean, airy, beachy vibe, very friendly and prompt server. I got the Mahi Mahi salad with honey mustard dressing. I also ordered oysters on the half shell which tasted like the ocean itself, super fresh!! Good size portion, highly recommended, so shuckin good!!

Day one lunch started strong with the shrimp burger. Made in-house, chopped shrimp mixed with pure wonderfulness and fried to perfection—absolutely superb. I paired it with slaw and a roasted vegetable medley (extra roasted), which was phenomenal.

The next day at lunch, I ordered the Greggah—their lobster roll. Perfectly seasoned cold lobster meat piled into a top-split, buttery roll, finished with a twangy mustard sauce that adds just the right kick, and served with drawn butter. On the side were roasted vegetables (excellent again) and slaw that was crunchy, creamy, and unmistakably Lowcountry in style. I also added the made-in-house, from-scratch crab balls appetizer. Perfection on a plate.

Since I was in town working, I returned the following day for lunch and splurged a bit. It was Clam Day Wednesday. I had a dozen steamed clams, a half-pound of steamed shrimp, and a half-dozen Parmesan-style char-grilled oysters on the half shell. The clams were absolutely perfect—sweet, tender, juicy, and ready to be plucked from the shell. The oysters were delicate morsels of pure deliciousness. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, ideal with cocktail sauce. I left extremely satisfied.

The restaurant sits on the corner of a shopping center with plenty of parking out front. Inside, you’re likely greeted right away. There are tables, booths, and a full bar stocked with all the libations you could want. Be sure to check the chalkboard for daily specials and the current oyster selections. They brew their own tea—no mix, no concentrate. The staff is friendly and attentive.

I can’t say enough about this place. The oysters were delicious. My wife had the shrimp tacos. The service was great and the atmosphere was everything you want in a seafood restaurant/ oyster bar.
