Wow, what a terrific find for a good burger! Great little spot hidden in downtown Kinston, with a very simple menu. The burger was seasoned well and cooked perfectly; and I loved that the patties were bigger than the buns! The shoestring fries were also top-notch.
I also loved that the walls are adorned with multiple Widespread Panic posters, and there was jam band music playing the entire time I visited.

We passed by this place one afternoon while driving downtown Kinston. We never knew there was a burger spot in the area. I was in the mood for a burger so we decided to check this place out. The restaurant wasn’t big but it was clean and the young lady behind the register was very welcoming as we came in. We both got a grilled onion burger and you get to choose your toppings. And we shared a side of their home cut fries. We got it to go. It wasn’t a long ride home and everything was still very hot and fresh. The burger was so good. It was a real smash burger. And I have been looking for a burger like this for the longest. It was amazing. Honestly the best burger I’ve had in years. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned to the T. I’ve got to let everyone at work know about this place so they can check it out. A hidden gem in Kinston we did not know about. The menu isn’t big at all and they don’t stay open late. But if you’re in town and want a really good burger and fries you should stop by. Will be coming back soon. They have a very nice outdoor area to enjoy your food also.

In Plato’s “Realm of Forms” there exists the perfect, unchanging smash burger. This is that burger -the smashburger which all other smash burgers seek to imitate. There may be “fancier” burgers or wagyu burgers but that’s not what it’s all about. If I could at any point in time have a burger (especially when I need it most) it would be the one from Home Team. I recommend a double onion patty with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeño, and mayo.

Burger was decently basic. Menu is simple. I got a cheeseburger, fries and a drink and it was around $15. Seemed like a bit much but that’s everything these days.

The burger and chicken wrap are both pretty good. The only cheese choice typically offered is the “American cheese” . American cheese is not cheese by the legal definition because it is mostly vegetable oil and chemical emulsifiers. I will go again but a real cheese option would be a good idea.
