Had a mixed experience with my recent breakfast. The smoked sausage had really good flavor, and the toast was perfectly done those parts were definitely the highlights.
On the downside, the potatoes were burnt and didn’t have any seasoning, and the grits were bland, which took away from the overall meal. With a little more attention to seasoning and preparation, the food could be much better.
I decided to rate it a 4 instead of a 3 because the customer service was fast, friendly, and very attentive. The staff made me feel welcome, and that helped balance out some of the issues with the food. With a few small tweaks in the kitchen, this place has the potential to improve a lot.

This was my first time eating here, and I enjoyed every aspect of this nostalgic experience from the “Voted #2 in America” window signs to the classic music playing softly in the background. Great customer service and clean environment. The vaulted ceiling and rustic decor provided a very comforting atmosphere. I was raised on some of the best TN soul-food, so my expectations are high. Dena’ s passed the test with a surprising star item on my plate, the THIN, CRISPY, CORNBREAD MUFFINS! I ordered two extra to go. Plus a liver and onion to go plate for my husband. According to the server, everyone who orders it, loves it, so I hope he agrees. And the light but tasty homemade coconut pie was refreshing. I’ll be back on a Wednesday to try the chicken and dumpling special.

my far my favorite café place to go. I’ve been here since the start and I would get here early in the morning when it opens up every single day, They have really good French toast there and Their eggs and bacon is so good there I love all their food and the people there are so great and so nice and so sweet to talk to. I especially love Peyton and Deena and Ellen. They are so sweet and my rating is definitely a 10 I just love going. I would always rate them a 10 when they’re doing ratings cause that’s a place. I’m gonna go to. Every day and I go sometimes at lunch and it’s so good and I get their specials of the day and it’s just the best. I unfortunately don’t have any Pictures but trust me it would look so good!!! By far the best place and always be my favorite to go and number 1. I definitely recommend people coming here by far. The best and their service is so great and they come out with a food and literally Like so fast. I really appreciate everyone there. They work so hard.

Went there for the first time for lunch today after friends told me about it and I had a delightful time. I ordered the grilled chicken with a side salad and collard greens which also came with house made cornbread and all of it was good. Fast service, nice staff, very fair pricing. 10/10 will be back and looking forward to trying their breakfast

Great place for lunch!! The was homemade and delicious. The uncle John’s smoked sausage hoagie was the best with cheese. But the onion rings stole the show, light and fluffy, so good even without the house made dipping sauce. It is a little noisy .

This is Lakelands best kept secret. My wife and I went for breakfast and we both agreed that it was outstanding and cost just $22.00 for the both of us. We went on Tuesday for the Meatloaf Special, not exaggerating it was the best that I have had besides my wifes. The sides were awesome, the cornbread, corn casserole, fried green tomatoes, even the mashed potatoes were just good and made with love. We are going back today Thursday for the Turkey & Dressing special, I can’t wait, I know it’s going to oh so good !.
If you are looking for a great place to eat with down to earth prices then stop by Dena’s Place you won’t be disappointed.
We went back for the Turkey & Dressing on Thursday just awesome, then we went back on Wednesday for the Chicken & Dumplings. I have attached pictures of the Meatloaf and Turkey & Dressing. Can’t wait to go back for the Baked Chicken & Rice then the Pot Roast & Veggies and then finally the Beef & Rice.

Great breakfast with reasonable prices! Dalia, the server was wonderful! She was so nice and helpful. All food was good. I usually don’t like French toast but theirs was the best I’ve tried until now. Grits were good too and my eggs were done perfectly. Will be back for sure!

Tried Dena’s for the first time today on a recommendation from a buddy that eats there often. Food & service were excellent. My server, Amy was friendly, attentive and took care of my meal. Also liked the 50’s-60’s songs playing softly in the background. I even had Dena herself come to my table and ask about my food and welcome me to her diner. I had breakfast and it was good, but as I was leaving I saw the Tuesday lunch special…..homemade meatloaf…..I’m just going to have to go back and try that. Excellent place to eat, highly recommended. Thanks Dena & Amy. Well , it took a year but I finally went back for the Tuesday meatloaf special and it was very delicious. Still a great place for home cooking meals.

Literally some of the best food I have EVER had! Their reuben is absolutely perfect, the meat is high quality and the proportions are just right! Their Chicken and dumplings are fantastic and they’re just as tasty with the dressing. Between the sweet potato casserole and the mac and cheese, I can’t choose a favorite! The staff are all super friendly too, and Dena is the best!!!

Wonderful little diner. Biscuits (taste like from scratch) are to die for. The country fried steak was tender and delicious. My husband had the ham and egg sandwich on their biscuit with real home fried red potatoes. We’ve been back 2 more times since our first visit.
