Overall: 4.5/5 [dine in]

We were waiting to get into Tiger Lilly when they open at 5 PM but found out they’ve permanently converted to an event space, so our friends introduced us to Garage instead. Definitely did not expect to find a speakeasy in a garage, but it was a vibe.

We were lucky and got seated right away.
Very dark and moody lighting inside. They don’t have happy hour and the drinks are on the pricier side. Portions are a bit smaller too, but they are craft cocktails. We got Lucas Fiasco ($19 each) and tried my friend’s Indian Paintbrush which were both great. Service is slower, so expect to be there for a while unless you can flag someone down.

If you are looking for a spot that feels like a well-kept secret, Garage in downtown Austin is it. Tucked away inside an actual parking garage, the transition from concrete ramps to mid-century gold is nothing short of cinematic. My partner and I decided to drop in on Valentine’s Day, and while we were fully prepared to be turned away since we didn’t have a reservation, the staff was incredibly accommodating. We were thrilled they managed to squeeze us in on one of the busiest nights of the year.
The Vibe & Drinks
The atmosphere is easily the highlight—it’s moody, intimate, and sophisticated. The “industrial-meets-refined” aesthetic makes it feel like you’ve stepped into a noir film. As for the menu, the drinks were excellent. Their cocktails are balanced and creative; you can tell the bartenders here actually respect the craft. Whether you’re a fan of a classic spirit-forward drink or something more adventurous, they don’t miss.
The Reality Check
Because it was Valentine’s, the space was definitely crowded. The popularity of the spot meant the pace was a bit slower than usual, and it took a little while to get our drinks. However, given the holiday rush and the quality of what was eventually served, it was a minor trade-off for such a cool experience.
Final Verdict: Despite the wait, the service remained friendly and the ambiance was unbeatable. I’ll definitely be back—though maybe on a random Tuesday next time to see it in a lower gear!

Cool spot that is definitely worth a visit. They have converted an old parking garage into a speakeasy-style cocktail bar with a dark and moody atmosphere. Intimate seating arrangement, it’s perfect for hanging with friends or even a date night. Recommend getting a reservation. Loved the cocktail offerings, my favorite was the “Indian Paintbrush.”

The food here is was top quality. I ordered the ceased salad and pizza flight. The salad was some of the best I ever had. The croutons buttery inside and crunch outside, fresh lettuce, and a light yet tasty sauce, as well as portion size was perfect. The pizza flight was delicious and had a sauce that made me savor every bite.

I’d also say bring exact change if you’re paying cash since they do not give change back. I highly recommend and will be back

The second time I have been and this time was even better!! Pizza and Caesar salad was great. We ate at the bar and Valarie did a tremendous job pairing the right cocktails for the food and the evening. The whole staff was friendly and the atmosphere is really great too! I suggest eating at the bar however there are cozy tables and lounges to relax and have a great time!

Interesting location in a converted parking garage in a building owned by Comedor. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. It’s reminiscent of the Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta. The sound system playing jazz records could be louder. The drinks are strong and curated perfectly. A bit on a pricey side though. Reservations are highly recommended if not required.

The Garage Speakeasy has always been one of my absolute favorites, and it somehow keeps getting better. Tucked away in the heart of downtown Austin, the atmosphere alone is a 10/10—intimate, moody, and effortlessly cool.

This visit was all about trying the new food menu, and it did not disappoint. We ordered a personal gluten free pizza with perfectly crispy edges and flavorful, well-balanced toppings, along with a Caesar salad that was fresh, classic, and delicious. The presentation was just as impressive—another solid 10/10.

And of course, the cocktails remain the best in town. Every drink is crafted to perfection, making this spot a must for cocktail lovers.

What really elevated the experience was the hospitality. We had the pleasure of meeting the chef, and the GM, Jason, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making us feel genuinely appreciated as guests.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable speakeasy experience with top-tier drinks, amazing food, and outstanding service, The Garage Speakeasy is a must-visit in downtown Austin.

Super chill spot. Went there on a weekday and reserved a spot, pretty packed for a small spot. Great service, decent price for a cocktail bar downtown area. The server was friendly and nice. Will definitely go back to chill and relax with a drink or 2.

One of my favorite speakeasy’s in town. The atmosphere is perfect for a date. Every cocktail I’ve ever had is incredible. Highly recommend going. Best to do reservations but I’ve found if there are only two of you they can typically get you a seat at the bar which is also a fun experience.
