Very cute place. We ordered Trout Pad Thai and Guay Tiew Tom Yum. Pad Thai was on a sweeter style reminded us with Corvallis Tarntip’s Pad Thai (our college day). The trout was really nice but we feel like the fish was a separate dish. We will try the soft shell crabs in the future.
Guay Tiew was really good, especially during cold season. It had a good amount of Tom Yum sourness. I wish they would provide more soup.
Overall, it was a good lunch place. We have not tried the dinner menu. Fast and great service.

Truly delicious and appropriately generous portion. Enough of*ALL ingredients for 2 complete servings (noodles, meat, toppings, condiments, garnishes Etc)…*Would have enjoyed a bit more broth/curry liquid… Because it was SO tasty.

Cute and whimsical interior but watch your head, some of the decorations hang a bit low! Food was well prepared, tasty and priced right. The cheese foam Thai tea was very nice. Good service and clean inside.

It’s a cute space and the service is fast and friendly. I got some fried trout with green curry and veggies and it was amazing. The veggies had eggplant and zucchini and stuff which I loved. My kid had chicken pad thai and wolfed it down.

Take out order. My husband and I tried it again post-Kala, and boy it’s terrible. The Pad See Ew/Mao have zero flavor and are in a weird soupy broth? That looks like oils in it? No deep flavor in the noodles, just tastes like a lot of hype and no attention to detail. Pictures here are deceiving, so see below.
Pictured See Ew and their “new” foam thai tea, which you can see has no cold foam.

Don’t let the size of this place fool you—Rukdiew Cafe may be small and unassuming, but it’s a total hidden gem and absolutely worth the hype! It has that classic hole-in-the-wall charm, but it’s highly recommended to make reservations—and after visiting, I totally get why.
The food is incredibly authentic Thai cuisine, but with fun, unexpected twists that make the dishes stand out. One of the highlights for us was the crab wontons—packed with flavor and a surprise kick of curry! Every dish we tried had that perfect balance of bold spices, freshness, and creativity.
The decor is delightfully quirky and original, with playful items hanging from the ceiling that made the whole experience feel extra special. And just when we thought it couldn’t get more fun, we spotted a cotton candy machine by the exit—yes, you can grab a puff of cotton candy on your way out!
Service was top-notch—fast, friendly, and genuinely warm. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. Bonus points for the easy street parking, which made getting there a breeze.
If you’re in Portland and looking for something authentic, flavorful, and just plain fun, Rukdiew Cafe is a must-visit. We had a blast and can’t wait to come back!

Yummy food & cocktails. So eclectically decorated. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The trout fried rice and soft shell crab pad thai were top tier. They bring a nice assortment of sauces and topping to the table too. Cocktails were great and not too sweet. Would definitely come back here!

This restaurant was awesome, we will be back again soon to try other dishes as well. We had the spring rolls, pad see ew, and khao soi, with jasmine tea.

Have enjoyed takeout/delivery from Rukdiew for a pretty long time, but tonight the portions we received were smaller and the green curry was very water-y. Not sure if they got a new chef or just having a bad night, but my husband and myself were sad to see the changes. Hoping this is just a one time experience. We love the flavors and the crab rangoons are always delicious.

Some of the best, freshest thai food i have had in Portland. The coconut prawns were cooked to perfection, so juicy and fresh. The pad kra pao was so flavorful! Served with a proper thai-fried egg, which i forgot to order and was served in minutes! Next time I will be sure to order it spicy! Can’t wait to go back
