Beautifully prepared, thoughtfully hand crafted traditional Japanese fare. The menu is huge, so browse it first if you can so you have some idea of what you want. The traditional clay and wood working to be found within the restaurant is museum quality. If you want to be seated in a more traditional Japanese dining setting, call ahead by about a day an make reservations. They do tea ceremonies and prix fixe that I am excited to try! Look at all these pictures!

The only good thing about this place is the atmosphere – which was promising.
But the food disappointed big time. sushi/fish could be fresher. The rice was way too hard, dry and had a sourness to it. Wasabi is not real wasabi root, but just typical horseradish with some root powder…that’s what fast food / takeaway places normally use. To serve it with these price tags is not ok. And also the presentation could be better – look at the pictures.
The service took extremely long … we waited more than 30min for our sushi order. Can’t recommend

My husband and I have been eating at Bizen for about 7 years now and we’ve never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and it’s also a great place to choose when trying to eat nutritiously. They use organic vegetables and fresh fish, which is what we gravitate towards. The owner, Mike, is wonderful and seems very passionate about the food. The restaurant is also located in a fun, downtown spot and during the summer the seating extends out, where there are vendors and entertainers set up. So much fun. Oh, they also make a great dirty martini!

Absolutely delicious food! I’m vegetarian and I loved how many unique vegetarian options are on the menu here. Nice restaurant and the waitress was very nice. I am from out of town I wish I lived closer to this place!

This restaurant has a huge menu. That actually is not necessarily a plus, as it is likely hard to keep so many fresh ingredients and stay in business. We ordered A5 Wagyu ($40) as an appetizer. It is something we had in other restaurants, so we had a certain level of expectations for this delicacy. It did not look or taste like other a5 wague we had tried. It did not melt in your mouth. It was not bad, and I liked the wasabi sauce that came with it, but the taste and the presentation did not live up to my expectations. Sushi (sushi dinner option) had a good selection of fish, but felt slightly warm. Miso soup was more bland than I had in other places. The service was helpful and friendly. The bathroom was spacious and clean.

We got a table right away on a Friday eve in June. The staff was excellent. We had a seared tuna appetizer which was quite good, Ramen which was quite average, and a special roll which was quite average as well. We were a little disappointed since Bizen had been recommended by a friend. Also, my son and I both had some stomach issues later that evening.

Such a delightful spot downtown. The ambience is perfect, the menu is enormous, and everything I’ve ever had here has been delicious!

The silence of the yams and caterpillar rolls are my favorite (vegan) rolls! The steamed greens appetizer with one sauce is SO good! The veggie somen is a delightful meal, full of plant protein and fresh vegetables. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Spectacular! I loved every single detail about this restaurant! The food is exceptional (get the deluxe seafood soup, and the yo yo ma ma roll is unbelievable), the atmosphere is incredibly authentic, and the prices were so reasonable. We’re saving this place on our map and going back.

Fantastic food in a cozy atmosphere. All of the sushi we ordered was extremely fresh and flavorful. The mixed greens appetizer was also surprisingly delicious and felt super healthy. I was happy to see the tatami traditional Japanese dining booths too, a rate find. My young kid loved his meal, and they were accommodating with us ordering a bunch of sides for him. We enjoyed the fish tank and wabi sabi koi pond too. We will definitely be back!
