Take a look at that that’s terrible, I took a few bites because I was really hungry but I couldn’t, I had to throw it out! 13 bucks for that. ♀️
Warning: I did not find out about it until I saw the emailed receipt at home, since I was not shown the itemized receipt when I was handed the handheld terminal, but they add a 2.5% convenience fee to your bill.
May 2023: Been here many times in the interim. Have not been too impressed with the special menus (on special nights like Cinco de Mayo, which was when we went last night). Stick to the regular menu. But you can’t beat the friendly service. Trivia night is fun, but low key and not much participation. Have seen business picking up lately, but still not too crowded inside. Never a wait.
Feb 2023: Finally tried the wings (which took a while, for this self-proclaimed wing afficionado). Having done so, I’d say pass on the wings — they aren’t bad, but not great, especially compared to the so-many other outstanding things on the menu here. Tried the Spicy Boi sandwich this time, and it goes on the Outstanding list 🙂 you’re welcome.
Dec 2022: We love this place! Been here more than it shows below. Great sandwiches & burgers – and the craft mac&cheeses are OUTSTANDING. Crystal serves us every time and is great. Wish they had more patronage — karaoke on Fridays is fun, but not much participation:( Come on out!
Sept 2022: Another update: Glad to see a little more patronage, finally! We finally made it up there on karaoke night. Was hoping it would be a little more lively, but at least it had a few more customers. I love how it’s always the same servers, and they are so friendly. Had the meatball grinder this time — pretty good, but not my favorite. The deviled egg app was awesome tho!
July 2022: Another update: The quality of this place continues to get better and better every time we go (we’ve been 2-3 more times since last review.) Super friendly service, and usually the same couple of waiters taking care of us. Wish they had more business!! Every dish we’ve ordered here since our first visit has been outstanding. Usually I go for the “Make no Misteak” sandwich, but this time I had the “SOP” (sausage, onions, and peppers” with marinara sauce over Alfredo pasta). They should call it “OMG” or “SFG” for “so f-ing good!”
The Caprese Mac may be one of the best Mac and cheeses I’ve ever had. And their eggrolls are what made us regulars!!
I try to tell everyone about the place, it’s one of our favorites now. I hear Friday nite karaoke is busy — will aim for that next time! Trivia Tuesday after that! Keep it up!
Feb 2022: We decided to give Black Sheep another go, and had a better experience (last time wasn’t bad, this was just better). I had the cheesesteak sandwich (I forget what they called it) and the wife had the grilled chicken egg rolls! Both were good. The cheesesteak filling was great, but serving it on Texas toast got it a little soggy but manageable. Had the egg roll app again, and was again awesome! We’ll be back, even if it’s just to have beers and eggrolls!
Service was good and quick the whole time — a very friendly waitress. But they were not very busy at all, at 7:30 at night — I hope they can stay open, it’s a good non-chain option for us.
(They also fixed the dark parking lot issue below).
Original Post, mid 2021?: Not bad, but not what we’d hoped. As we pulled in, parking was dark and kind of empty. Not a great sign.. but inside was bright and tables were fairly full.. Menu looked good, and has potential with a little effort.
Ordered the egg rolls and wings for appetizers — the egg rolls were awesome! 3 different kinds (Cuban, BBQ and italian). The wings were a little overcooked and needed more sauce.
I had the Insti-Gator, a grilled gator dish. Sounded good, but unimpressive and not a whole lot to it. Also tried the Florida man, also a grilled gator dish. That was better, but way oversalted. Others at the table had sandwiches which were good.
Service was very friendly but a tad slow. Hopefully the place finds its groove after being open longer, seemed to have a few kinks. In an area of dozens of good places like it to eat, this one’s got some work.
We had the get buff wrap and the black sheep burger in a tortilla. Regrettably I did not take a picture of the appetizer pub pretzel.
We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place. Ask for Mak he will take care of you as a great server does.
