I never give all 5 stars so this is good! My mom and I used to eat here on a regular basis but she moved to AZ for over 5 years. Now she’s back and we recently went out to dinner here. Boy did we miss this place! Mom ordered the Mongolian beef and I ordered a special dish not on the menu: Jjamppong. It’s a Korean soup. Yummm . Love it!!! I will warn you that it may be a bit spicy ️ for some. Pic included. They also have delicious jasmine tea. I hope that you enjoy this review and this special little restaurant. It is owner run and they are a delight. Hope to see you there. You will know who I am because I will be enjoying my jjamppong!

My wife and I have been eating at Great Wall in Rockford since we started dating over 32 years ago and it’s still one of our favorite spots in town. We raised our kids on this food, and now it’s a family tradition every time they come home from school.
The flavors have been consistently amazing all these years, the portions are generous, and the staff always makes you feel welcome. It’s rare to find a place that stands the test of time like this one, but Great Wall has done it. Truly a Rockford classic!

I am homeless first. I came and ordered a quart of wonton soup and paid $6.02. They dumped all their seafood soup into my order before they closed and it was disgusting. Horrible Chinese. Don’t eat here. Food is disgusting.

The service here was amazing! The waiter was nice and funny. I ordered Ginger chicken and my mom ordered teriyaki chicken both with fried rice. We loved the food and tea! I really liked the decoration as well.

Very unimpressed! First time there and I order shrimp egg foo young. No shrimp added and it’s the first time I’ve ever ordered egg foo young it didn’t have a brown Gravy. This also had a weird taste. See photo. Not at all have I ever had egg foo young that looked and tasted like this ever!
Secondly, ordered shrimp toast. Which is exactly that. Shrimp and toast. This also was not good. When biting into what appeared to look like shrimp toast it did not have the consistency or appearance of shrimp inside. I thought it was sausage. See photo.
Lastly, I ordered shrimp and lobster sauce. I could eat the the shrimp and it seem to be OK but lots of running egg that wasn’t cooked. Ugh.
I did get another container with pea pods, shrimp, carrots in a brown sauce that I didn’t order. That was someone else order that im sure when they got home wasn’t happy they did t get there paid what ever it was.
Only one other couple was there so the place wasn’t busy. Lots of take out order and if you paid cash they gave you a $1.00 discount.
Not worth wasting your time to go there again! I will be taking back the food and reciept.

Had Chicken Fried rice with Bean Sprouts and Great Wall Chicken. Only thing I would have liked the Veggies to be cooked a little bit more. Sauce of Great Wall was a brown gravy with perfect amount of garlic and spice. Fried rice had lots of veggies and egg especially good with the Bean Sprouts. Talked with owners wife for a bit who was very nice and pleasant to speak with. Will definitely be trying again soon. And the gentleman that served me was very knowledgeable of how each dish was prepared.
