We had the worst experience at Frank’s. We were looking for a quick diner style breakfast. When we walked in we noticed the place had an interesting vibe and was pretty busy but we managed to be seated quickly as a two person party. Our drink order was taken and immediately brought to our table. So what went wrong? Well, everything you could think of. We waited 20 minutes for a server to come take our food order, but no one came. We ended up having to physically get up and flag someone down. When the server came to take our order she was visibly stressed out. Busy Saturday morning, we were understanding. She took our order and we waited. While we waited, we heard other tables become frustrated as their orders were brought out incorrectly more than once. We heard people complain that their food hadn’t come out and they’d been waiting for over an hour. We waited for 45 minutes with no sign of our food coming out. We struggled to flag her down again but when we finally did, she told us our food was coming out next. We thought she was going to check on our order, and maybe she did and we didn’t notice but what we did notice was that she just sat down. We waited another 15-20 minutes before we gave up. We are normally very patient diners but this was so out of pocket. We went up to the register to pay for our drinks and cancel our food order. The server made eye contact with us and came over to apologize and let us know that the reason our order was taking so long was because the cooks were moving the tickets around and she didn’t know why. She ended up not charging us for the drinks which we appreciated after the chaos. The service was overall friendly, not rude but we unfortunately won’t be coming back. If you’re looking for breakfast on a busy morning, good luck!

I feel so fortunate to live, quite literally, next door to this Ann Arbor institution. They have excellent breakfast dishes, and if you see the Philly Cheesesteak on the lunch, you’d be greatly remiss not to order it. I’ve found their portions are very generous and the service incredibly efficient and polite. My secret tip? The delicious Greek lemon egg drop soup that is sometimes in the menu. And so. Very. Delicious.

Like breakfast joints? Then this is your place. Restaurant is straight out of a 1950’s diner in a movie scene. Definitely in contrast to Ann Arbor’s trendy breakfast places. Nothing fancy here, just good old American fare. Food is good, portions are generous. Not the cleanest restaurant I’ve been in. Service was attentive. I will eat here again.

Beautiful diner with a great staff. Glad to see some hard working people making some great food for a good value. Omelet was amazing and my wife and son loved the Philly

I’ve wanted to try Franks for a while now. I door dashed the Franks famous French Toast, Western Omelet with cheese and a side of hash browns. The Omelet was perfect. It had lots of fillings, very cheesey, and a great sized portion. The hash browns were uninspiring unfortunately. I wished they were a little crispier and they need more salt. Now, the French Toast was the star of the show. Crispy exterior with a light doughy center, it was cooked perfectly. It’s easily the best french toast I’ve had in Ann Abor. It’s definitely worth going back.

Frank’s is an nostalgic and inexpensive old favorite diner that has not changed in a half century. It is located right off the central U of M Campus – near Nickel’s Arcade. We visited in August 2018 – and found the huge portions and low prices refreshing — just about everything else in the area has become expensive and rather “chic” as Ann Arbor becomes more upscale. I remember Frank’s back from my student days and nothing much has changed. It is a favorite hangout for the football team, we ended up sitting next to three players on the team who clearly were beefing up on the huge portions. Our bill for lunch for two including beverages, tax, and tip under $25.00. Highly recommended, even if you do not have memories that date back college days.

Frank’s is a great hole in the wall diner. My wife and I planned a random trip to Ann Arbor, random road trips are the best. We looked up breakfast and made the best decision on a whim. I got steak and eggs steak was a perfect medium rare and the eggs perfect as well. Got a side of hashbrowns, because potatoes are necessary. My wife got a two eggs breakfast and was really happy about the scrambled eggs. In my opinion a must stop.

Somehow I missed out on going to Franks for 25 years, what a fool I’ve been. Great diner food, great prices, and great atmosphere. The patty melt was luxuriously soft and delicious and the spicy chicken sandwich was crispy and cooked well. I will be back many times to try all of the plates I saw people eating.

A classic diner! Casual vibes and good food. Some of the best hashbrowns I’ve ever had. Good prices too. Got a full brunch/lunch and leftovers for under $20. The hostess/waitress was killin’ it. The staff are good at what they do and don’t mess around. I’m definitely going to make this place a regular stop!
